That's pretty weak, dawg. So I guess there's no proper faction vs faction pvp either, then? If the KDF population is so much smaller (I'm assuming).

    Yes, I have administrator button.

And no, we keep our sets, when I transferred to Tribble my Borg Set was converted to Mk XI 3 pieces and the console stayed the same but now referring the new set its part of ... also if you equip a set with visuals on a BO it will now display the costume, well at least the armor does because I put that extra MACO Mk XI set in one and it displayed just fine.

What we lose is all the other stuff, like if you have a Proto Shield its gone after and I REALLY dont like how they are not putting conversions rates, to me 1 Proto tech = 5 Elite Omega Marks since its what its worth, instead I am sure they are trying to screw us up in some way.

No, there are KvF matches as well as KvK and FvF matches but PvP is not popular, blame the fact they tried to force people into it and they got steamrolled by the veterans, then a lot of Klingons quit because they buffed up Fed to actual stand a chance in PvP .

There is some PvP going on but most people are not into it.

Yea, generally the reason for the lack of interest people have towards PvP can be summed up in one word: Battlecloak.

the T in tsoyin is capitalized. Can i get some op weapon so i can get to helping faster? Like a mark XI torpedo? i mean are there level restrictions?

I have to mash the fire button to keep firing. Any way to just tell the game to always fire like a toggle?

Yea, they are level restrictions based on Mark tier. To improve the speed at which you take out enemies, select Offensive power preset, it puts 100 power into Weapons, dramatically increasing your firepower. If you want the easiest method of leveling, you should do the first two tiers with a Cruiser (or science vessel potentially on the second tier).

As for fire button, right-click each of the weapon icons so they'll have a green glowy edge. That'll turn on your autofire, the workings of which you can change (default IIRC is that you after your first press of Fire All aka space all your weapons will keep on firing as often as they can).

If you want to enjoy the experience of earning subpar, worthless crap that you subsequently dump as vendortrash because it's not the Real Deal, only to later repeat the same episode to get the Real Deal, just keep doing your thing. If you want to powerlevel massively, see me. It depends on if you're a Journey-centric type of player, or an objective-oriented individual.

Objective, definitely. How to level faster? Also what is the point of torpedoes if they only do like 30% better damage at no shields but much worse at even half and have really weak arcs?

Torpedoes do a shitload of damage against unshielded targets, the idea is stripping away the shields with energy weapons and then fire torpedoes, usually we just fire everything at once since its just faster that way

Also Torpedoes and mines dont use weapon power, if you go with a 8 beam cruiser you will run out of weapon power fast, the only ones that can handle those power requirements are Engineers Captains and only with the use of their Captain only Abilities (EPS Power Transfer and Nadion Inversion) and they cannot be maintained for long either.

And there are other things, like range as beams reach optimal effectiveness at 5km or less as neither Torpedoes or Mines have any kind of drawback, they are effective at any range (just Torpedoes are better at long since they can miss at close range) and also the best you can do with beams for multiple targets is Fire at Will, Torpedo Spread on the other hand is quite powerful since it hits multiple targets with a AoE damage and the closest you can get to Torpedo Spread in Energy weapons is scatter shoot that is a Cannon ability.

I grown a strong respect to my Orion Tactical Officer when I put Beam Overload III and Torpedo Spread II, I seen ships being ripped apart when two players fire a Torpedo Spread against a group of weaker ships.

Err, no they aren't? Only your leftover salvage, techs, and EDCs are recycled. Your actual equipment pieces, you keep.

Holler on the chat channel, I'm usually around, although I'm usually playing my Klinks, ATM.

Torps and mines don't use weapon power at ALL, which means on certain ships, you can run no-power-to-weapons because you carry only torpedoes. This is of particular relevance to certain classes of Sci ship that only use their beam for subsystem shooting, carrying torpedoes instead for their firepower and using subsystem target shields and tachyon beam or energy drains to knock enemy shields offline before pumping them full of torpedoes, thus allowing them to run full power to Aux instead.

The lack of interest in PvP is mostly because there is little PURPOSE in PvP. Senseless player-on-player violence without goal or reward isn't even interesting to ME, and I *LIKE* PvP. It needs some kind of meaningful framing device, like Netrek Lite. Netrek is awesome.

Well, I guess I have one reason to be happy about the Reputation System, assuming it's not too grindy:

    Better Romulan weapons for Valkar.

Right in my experience 30% more against unshielded cause the array gets 2 volleys of 4 shots per torpedo. Where can i get the info on ranges? Where can i get the math on how energy affects weapons? Do i have to buy the other two ships T2 (cause science sounds interesting) with real money?

The people who hammered out the math and did the original tables (and updated ones) post them on the official forums. By energy, I assume you mean Power Level (energy is generally used to refer to an energy attack or energy type, which is a different matter entirely), and here's the basic guide to the finer points of Power:

    http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=157386

Also, in case you're planning on playing a Cruiser, the idea with them is to have a Torpedo on each end and beams otherwise (at endgame, six beam arrays total), with you zig-zagging as you fly to fire off torpedoes on each end while you keep the broadside's pressure on.

The anomaly things are crafting materials. Ignore them if you don't plan on crafting, or contribute to Fleet projects/bank.

Lockboxes are a form of gambling, you buy a 1 dorraa priced Master Key that then unlocks the box which has random stuff in it.

Abilities can't fire automatically, but once you get the groove down cycling is easy.

any way to set one keyboard key to activate multiple abilities? Like 'panic' button activates the speedboost and healing abilities. or set them all to one button and mash it and call it 'auto'

Yes, actually. See "Advanced Keybinding". And technically, while the game's internal mechanisms don't support firing an ability automatically, you can bind a bunch of crap to one button on a controller, flip fire select to full auto, and then tape down the button. Another option people do is bind everything to the MORE DAKKA button, which they then hammer away on. Advanced Keybinding also lets you incorporate things like the "Give Me DIlithium, Bitches!" button.

Just do what Vaarna said. It took me much longer than I care to admit to discover auto fire. Again just right click on all the attack options in the lower box and press space bar to activate for whichever enemy is newly selected. As far as your and your officers other abilities, yeah you gotta click them on their own as they cycle. Did you get an invite to our chat channel?
I also suggest you set up your chat options to block out the certain fluff for better focus too. I have a pure "Codex" channel tab, some of the other stock ones such as battle, and one for public - all allow communication from the codex to come through.

And for god's sake never disable the Team channel.

EDIT: Also Dim you've got our private chat channel invite, go to Chat Settings (and once there, Channels tab) to accept it.

What really? You want me to find an outside program to do it? I need it for my fighter games anyway.

No, you can do from in-game. See the "keybinding" guide on the Wikka.

So is KDF where all the cool kids are hanging out these days? Development on the Fed starbase seems to have stalled out.

Also...just read the latest dev blog and it is very cool that they're putting Salt Vampires into the game. That episode scared the CRAP out of me when I was little.

I have no idea where people are hanging out, I never see anyone else, it's always just me and the wife. I encounter one of you once in a blue moon. And I'd know, since I never leave.

The mission the game has with the Planet Destroyer is also p. cool, or the ones where you travel back to TOS time.

Nah, I still mostly play as Valkar. It's rather that we aren't in any hurry to do jack anymore, we got the damn uniforms (as fizzy put it, we got robbed) and new Tier. Or more accurately, we're taking a break before the Embassy stuff rolls out (those should be easier to fulfill), I'm hoarding (by necessity, actually) Fleet Marks, EC and Dilithium in preparation for those.

Still, if someone thinks we should get the next tiers for Military/Science (whether for Iota Pavonis Transwarp, or someone wants a maximum pimpage Defiant), they just need to say it, I'm sure we can whip up an effort fairly easily since we've done our peak effort (the Starbase itself) already.

EDIT: Well Norfleet, I log on every day around the same time to update my Fed dailies and Valkar's doffs. I generally assume you've got a grind-macro going on or something since you rarely greet people.
