Pathfinder Pathfinder: Kingmaker Builds and Strats Thread

Straight up Freebooter 10 with Two-handed Combat Style for Cleave Feats and Dreadful/Barb 10 with Reckless Stance, Inspiring Ferocity, and the three Animal Totems (the last gives Pounce) is the most powerful build in the game as long as you’ve got someone to cast Enlarge/Legendary on you.

You give whole team +8 to hit and wreck house with big AoE (use best available Reach or Bane weapon).

 

Was there a Barbarian power that gave you and extra APR? And has it been included in any mods like COTW?

When this first came out, I think I was building a barbarian, and I think I found that power - but it was with a mod and I don't know which one it was.

I do read the readme for each mod, but they just list the power name, not what it does. So I didn't then cross-reference it with the online SRD dictionary.

 

The only one I know of is the Totem power that gives you a bite attack but that's in the base game.

 

Some irritating stuff from my point of view that Owlcat might want to consider for the next game:

I live in a low bandwidth area. I've spent 3 days downloading the game - as you have to download with almost each update.
There are certain mods I can't live without; things that make this a game I'll continue to play over one I'd just play once. The problem is they're not all compatible with Unity manager, or with each version of the game. Things like hotkeys for stealth, or class mods.

While these are mild complaints, this is still the first game in 25+ years of gaming that's completable, but I haven't bothered to finish since its release. The game is awesome. But as my time is limited as I get older, I find my patience for spending 6+ hours getting all my ducks in a row is limited. So I've really shelved this since its release and waited for everyhting to come together a bit more.

Just wanted to provide that feedback - as I think it hurts the rep of the company - and makes people less likely to insta-buy the next game. Still, Owlcat are a long way from becoming as balanced as Obsidian.

 

This is probably the root of all your woes, Kingmaker notwithstanding.

 

After all the talking about wizards in the main Kingmaker thread, I'm amped-up for a playthrough with a party of arcane casters. These are the only obligatory characters:

- Bard
- Wizard/Rogue/Arcane Trickster
- Wizard/Cleric/Mystic Theurge
- Sword Saint

The other two slots are open and I would love some input on interesting characters to add. Right now, I'm inclined to go for:

- Fighter/Wizard/Eldritch Knight
- Paladin/Sorcerer/Eldritch Knight

But, even if they have different strengths, they play very similarly for the most part. I was also thinking about a pure Sylvan Sorcerer, but maybe there's some possible combination I'm forgetting.

 

Has anyone done anything interesting with Jaethal? I wonder if her ability to derive HP from CHA could be better utilized somehow, maybe going Sorcerer or Cleric?

 

InEffect makes her 3 Inquisitor / 17 Herald Caller of Urgathoa. I am playing this build right now (albeit not on Unfair), and she is very useful.

Is she able to take Kineticist? Does Charisma replace Con then?

 

No idea. May be psychokineticist, though? Through Wisdom? She might be immune to some of the effects that attack will saves.

 

I just lost a 50 hour iron man run because I fucking messed up big time. I am angry, very angry. Now I have to stay up for days to get up to where I was... I hate myself.... But it's okay, I don't need sleep.. I am going to try again... NJClaw Does Eldritch Knight progress Sorcerer Bloodline? I feel like trying Sorcerer(Abyssal Bloodline)/Eldritch Knight.

 

Eldritch Knight does not progress Sorcerer bloodline. Only way to progress Bloodline with Prestige Class is Dragon Bloodline > Dragon Disciple.

That fucking sucks. Well bros. Losing that iron man run hurts a lot. I'm just staring at the character creation screen and am hopeless.... Right when I finished chapter 3. Fuck! I can't believe it! All of that progress ruined because of one stupid random encounter. Help me Smilodon! What is a good class for chaotic neutral characters? I am trying to achieve the iron man and secret ending steam achievements.

I'm curious, if you ALT+F4 or close the game's process in Task Manager, does it still delete your save? You might have to resort to something along those lines in order to get the achievement in a "fair" way.

 

I don't how I feel about that. Feels like cheating. Well anyways, I think i figured out what class I am going to play. Welp, back to wasting my life on Unfair + Iron Man.

 

Make some archer with the pet and keep him as far away from melee as possible.

I was making backups for my ironman runs in Knights of Chalice. Well... mostly in case of some script that triggers dialogue window getting stuck (And it happened twice!). Sure it would work for P:K.
Alas, Pink is too far gone even to lower difficulty to normal, never mentioning attempting some "fair" tricks.

 

NJClaw I have always loved arcane themed parties like what you have described;

however,

That party is going to be pure masochism in Chapter 1, and probably won't stop suffering until after Chapter 3 at the earliest. Kingmaker's challenges play to wizard's weaknesses. I envy the time you have to enjoy the game this way. Just be prepared to pay the price for it.

That's a nice build. I've done Inq3/Cleric17 on Harrim and liked it a lot. WIS to initiative and Solo Tactics are both very nice.

Plus Cleric on Jaethal lets her heal herself spontaneously.
