It is a passive ability. You alter the radius of AoE spells using your mouse wheel at the expense of power level.

Sounds almost like a must-have. Wonder why it's not an option for all/most classes by default...

Hylea Challenge. She has 1 hp and can die from friendly fire, so this is a tough one.

Does she actually have a bit more dialogue when she's with you? I recall a while back Obsidian mentioned she wasn't supposed to have generic sailor barks and they were going to add some new ones for her.

Edit: She has a couple more lines. Unvoiced.

I found two interesting leaks in the game files.

Remember how Adam Brennecke said there would be a new pet mechanic in Forgotten Sanctum? Players will be able to sacrifice their pets and use them to create new customizable pets.

A new berath blessing will allow you to purchase the Ghost Ship and Submarine in Neketaka.

This one I wont spoil. Know how there are 12 god challenge slots, but only 11 gods in PoE? There's a new god.

Why would anyone want to turn the entire game into an escort quest? (Unless you can just park her at the entrance of every map and leave her there)

Pre-Made Characters

Half the premade characters use the same portrait as a crew member, all but guaranteeing that someone who selects a premade character will find themselves hiring a crew member with the same face. Dumb move. Those portraits should have been removed from the pool before they chose portraits for these chars.

Rymrgand Challenge. Good food spoils between 1-3 days. Shitty food like rice and hardtacks can last over a week.

Oh shit, hardtack goes bad? My poor crew!

No. You have zero control over her.

The best strategy would be to create a priest and cast withdraw on her every battle.

This character importing/exporting looks really interesting. You can export your character at max level with unique equipment, and customise the level of imported characters you recruit, as well as choosing to recruit them with the unique equipment or not for a reduced price. I wonder how/if it'll handle things like DLC items being equipped and modded-in portraits. Regardless, everyone can now upload their powerbuilds to Steam Workshop or the Nexus. This seems like a lot of work on the developers' end for something that basically won't be usable in the console version, barring some kind of Dragon's Dogma character browsing thing

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Barbarians aren't a bad class, they're just bad Barbarians. They're pretty good if you make them into frontline offtank/disruptor kind of guy, but that's not a typical image of a Barb people have in their heads I guess. Plus Konstanten's battle laugh is the best thing in the whole game.

Well, frankly a Cipher will be much better at distraction, while a rogue, monk or soulblade will be much better at offtanking and actually killing stuff.

I know he can do those things well with Heart of Fury and PL IX Shout upgrade/Instrument of Boundless Rage... but frankly I'd rather not wait till level 17-19 to have a character worth using.

True. But IMO Swashbucklers or Holy Slayers will be better both at tanking and at dealing damage.
Barbarian gives hitpoints, carnage and movent and action speed abilities. fFghter gives engagement slots and defences-boosting abilities.

For a damage dealer, I would dual rogue with ranger - incurring big damage, damage over time, and afflictions, all from a safe distance.

In prep for console release.
Could be. Or could be programmer UI design again.

Is the fixed beta patch out yet? I would share my party.

Extra hitpoints mean very little when they come with a Deflection debuff whenever you're using a core ability. Even worse if you're a Berserker - only barbarian subclass I'd consider playing, who actively damages himself while under frenzy (and the self-damage scales with level and Might, so later it does something like 30 self-damage per tick).

It's not like a Fighter or Paladin needs any extra hitpoints. Both of those classes are UNKILLABLE, even when fully surrounded by enemies. Paladin if built correctly, Fighter even if you dump deflection and keep Con at base, provided that you have good Int and reserve Discipline points for Unbending (and kill enemies reasonably fast, I guess).

I agree with the Ranger Rogue combo. Particularly nasty Sharpshooter / Streetfighter with dual mortar blunderbusses from Serafen. With Powder Burns... 'splosions everywhere (and Streetfighter special permanently active).

But Rogue multiclasses are also awesome for melee.
Streetfighter rocks when coupled with a durable class like Fighter or Paladin and charging into middle of enemy ranks, while Trickster is a great (off)tank and works fantastic with less durable classes, like Soulblades or perhaps monks.
Of course you can also make an uber-tank with Trickster/Fighter or Trickster/Paladin.

Nah just hard, keep your salute.

Yeah boy, time to create some abominations!

Still crossing my fingers for a new Skaen's pool though, I know there's one in the main game but it just gives a summonable item and if you already sacrificed someone in the first game you can't use it, who came up with that stuff? (By the by I would sacrifice all my companions for a full set of Skaen's dolls action figures™

You can't sacrifice someone in PoE2 if you've already done it in PoE1? Why? That's disappointing.

Some might say it's the behavior of a company that knows it's about to get a huge payday...
