Wouldn't Icewind Dale be more comparable to PoE2 than BG2? IIRC it lasts about 35 hours.
What the hell, that's a lot :what:

It would have been cool if at least half of your characters were at 0 hp and one of them was already gibs and couldn't be resurrected (with the rest being paralyzed and one fighter not being able to wound anything because he has only regular sword and needs a +1 one). Otherwise, yeah, as an intermediate boss encounter it was cool, but for me at least turned in just left clicking zombie after zombie - ultimately barely losing any hp and no resources, consumables or anything of sort.

Just like 99% of the fights go in this game though.

    Show Spoiler
Arguably for some of the best fights, I recommend the bottom-right corner of the world map. If you're not very high level it can almost be concidered rapey there.

    Show Spoiler
Just like any vampire fight though - I think it's due to them always having a naturally high level and stats, the cave to the north is not a walk in a park either.

Making it diegetic would help for a start. The game starts with your soul unmoored and floating through the Beyond, having to remember who you were and what happened in your life to be reborn. How about instead of a narrated Star Wars crawl where the setting is introduced (at the beginning of the SECOND GAME) the mystical (that is to say, rarely heard) voice of Berath "reminds" us of the mortal world and where we are now

SoA has no double speed toggle :D

That, or a cryptic quote from a fictional chronicle. Like the way SoA starts.

    Players play at different speeds.
I'm not questioning fantadomat completing Deadfire in 25h on normal, but I'm sceptical he spent 40+ hours in SoA like he says, it's the opposite of my experiences (and what a glance at the wikis suggests), that's why I'm interested.

He said he used ctrl-J and the EE console to teleport between areas and still clocked almost DOUBLE time in SoA than in Deadfire :M.

The opening really does feel flung together in a hurry, despite basically being laid out in the kickstarter campaign. Maybe a sign of how much they had to focus on bug squashing, if they were implementing this at the same time

I don't get all those complains about the soundtrack.

Other than a single bad track, the ost is pretty damn good.

Having been on the receiving end of a god's wrath right at the beginning of the game (dying by refusing Berath), I pussied out on my tough guy (gal) act when the narration indicated he was tugging at my soul and screamed "please stahp mah lawd, have mercy!"; he then went "nah bro, you berath's ward, I wasn't gonna kill you - you a real pussy ass hoe tho". Glad to see that the threat is real. He also mentioned I didn't fulfill my pledge to him at the end of PoE 1 and promised consequences for later, but I'm not expecting much on that front.

Surprisingly enough, I also liked both of their characters. The queen even reminded me of some character from Dune, but hell I remember whom. Maybe because she's a royalty and a mind reader lol. Her bro is also quite bro, hell, I'd welcome him in my party given the chance (which already has only texas priestess and pirate orlan left from normal ones, since I lost Eder in the beginning, and didn't like ANYONE else - heck, I only carry priestess around cause I wanna see her reaction when I meet Eothas and because she's a healing/support/aoe blasting monster).

This fight felt awesome, but I'm dreading the fact that the game is supposedly going to become way easier very soon (supposedly at the level 10-12 mark or so). Up until now it's been fairly challenging for someone using no custom adventurers and barely any consumables on PotD.

Someone suggested messing with the game files to halve exp gain as a band-aid until the first balance patches arrive, and I think I'll do it.

By the way there's been a ton of conflicting reports about the level scaling, it might only be bugged for some people or at certain parts, it's hard to tell at this point.

The paradox is that she is more interesting because they didn't try to make her "interesting".

Yep that's about the mark, also, designer ran out of ideas for perks on these levels, especially for casters, so you pick from the variations of same shit and just roll your eyes every new level while putting points into same crap or picking between crap and less useless crap.

I tried running some wizards, like another black accent valian girl.

Holy shit is a specialist wizard even worse than the regular one, due to not being able to pick actual good spells lol.

Even my less than optimal ranger/druid feels like a god in comparison with his combination of damage, shifting, a summon, heals, support and debuffs.

During the Gullet food crisis quest, I also liked that prince (Aruhui?) was traditionalist, but not so rigid that he would reject all other solutions. He allowed the Dawnstars to donate food, even though it potentially disrupted the prize share custom. The degree of flexibility was refreshing.

Did you use any level 8/9 wizard spells? They win encounters alone with one cast.

Yeah well, there are quite a few low level spells that do the same. Mine can use level 8 now. Since she is a Conjurer, she can use her level 8 casts to protect herself with a thingie and uuh summon a bow with 10-20 damage. :balance:

Considering this is a flop, will Obsidian polish this beyond adding the DLC they already sold? I feel like base game has potential and few patches could improve it greatly. Ironically Paradox style content iteration together with DLCs might salvage it. Sure what is there already can't be "fixed" in terms of writing quality but it did not bother me much.

The games content is in the capital city anything outside is mostly fluff, the game have less content than PoE for certainty,it feels like there is more but it is not. I am talking about quantity not quality here. Also i don't say that the game is better, for me they are both on the same shit level. People that are baffled by my posts are mainly people that are still on the capital city and haven't finished the game. I too praised the game for the first 20 hours. After that it ended and felt unfinished with a lot of cut content.

BG doesn't have auto resolve aka space, double speed and quadruple speed for combat. Even on hard you can just hit space and watch the enemy die,the game plays itself. Number of quests doesn't equal a lot of content. By that logic Skyrim have infinite amount of quests because of the radiant, therefore it have infinite amount of content. Most of the Deadfire quests are are pointless "talk to some guy" quests with a lot of space/loading screens between the quest giver and the person that you have to talk to. That is made so the game could feel longer than it is. I will give you an example:
    Show Spoiler
The quest about the niggers noble houses quest line is:
You talk to a girl in front of the house
You talk to the people at the waterfall
    You talk to the mother
You talk to a street artist
You talk to some girl in Gulag after 30 seconds of fight or you could just sneak and steal the information
You talk to the mother again
Now you have a choice,to kill the people in the vault and eventually one of the families or decide to go and talk to the other family
You now talk to the man
You talk to his son and he sends you on quest
You talk with bunch of sharks, you can kill them but there is no need
You talk again to the son
You talk to the father and he agrees to a meeting
You talk to the mother, she agrees
You talk at the meeting, depending on the performance you either kill them or they make a deal.
That is it! Amazing 5-6 quests there, really nice content mate.

And this shit gets praised here!

Maybe es a matter of level, because at level 7 (or was it 6, I cant remember) I had to do a bit moar than left clicking zombie after zombie, and at the end I had only 2 dudes left standing.

But yep, no resources lost in the end, and IMO this might be shaping up to be this game's biggest flaw gameplay-wise. Since Everyone Is A Rest Spammer (tm) and grave injuries miraculously go away after eating some oranges, winning a tough fight doesn't really amount to much, especially if you neglect consumables and just aim to have at least one goy alive to win.

    Still,

also kealed the shai-hulud on the same map and it was also a cool fight

    i'm having fun

what have you done to me sawyer

Are they going to release a patch to fix the damn difficulty issue? It's ridiculous that I'm strolling around killing everything with barely any input from me, just click on enemies, summon some things, a spell here and there and the fight is over, just ridiculous. Did they said something about releasing a patch this week, cause I want to play the game.

Just so you wait, this isn't even Sawyer's final form. By the time he is done with game balance to make POTD more challenging it will be the ultimate RTWP experience. Truly the BG2 experience with garbage story, writing and companions but best combatfaggotry.
