even if d&d made anything similar it just begs the question even more: what the fuck is it? what is his philosophy? never mind his skills.

Here is a fact, you retard. AD&D is not only fiction that exists nor is it some sort of canon on archetypes.

Here is a quote for you:

I.E, if it's hard for you to deduct; Paladin means a member of a military or courtly order. A rogue Paladin would be one that has gone rogue. Specifically in PoE Paladins are military orders with a creed, not necessarily religious, pious or "good".

PoE rogue motivation could be as simple as wanting to become the #1 pickpocket in Eora to qualify as Paladin.
Cooler IMO than rogue praying to Shar or w/e to get better stabbing powers .

His ethos is his paladin order's. He just generally better at stabbing and not quite as good at healing or leading.

Here are a couple of Pillars paladin ethoi: how are these incompatible with rogue skills, even if you're so into larping you care?

"Dreaded for their mercilessness and cruelty, paladins of the Bleak Walkers believe that extreme brutality in warfare brings conflict to a swift close. To maintain their reputation for unrelenting savagery, the Bleak Walkers never give quarter and never abdandon the field, even if their employers command them to."

"The oldest known paladin order in the world, the Darcozzi Paladini were founded as the guards of the Darcozzi Palace in Grand Vailia over 2000 years ago. Since the shattering of Grand Vailia, the Darcozzi Paladini have transformed into the protectors and ambassadors of the immense Darcozzi family as well as Old Vailian culture. The Darcozzi Paladini arewidespread and occasionally even come into conflict with each other due to the machinations of the Darcozzi family. Paladins of the order are renowned for their wit and love of life."

"Mercenaries with a solemn reverence for the sanctity of contracts, Goldpact Knights fulfill their obligations with unemotional, unswerving commitment and without moral judgment."

More or less. And posting on the Codex.

Thing is, I am not looking at replaying this game. Not just because combat or anything. But also because it lacks my favorite part from BG2 - running with different parties. How do you larp a ruthless slave trading pirate if your whole party is nice, eco friendly gay people? Where are my chaotics, and my evils? Arguably BG2 had less writing put into companions, yet you could run a party of basically all goodies, or a party of chaotic dorks, and of course a small, but elite party of a dwarf with temper issues, a megalomaniac wizard and a slutty drow.

Here, there's just... no mates to go together with for all that booty. :sad ahoy:

    I wasn't referencing you actually. I don't get why you're so upset.

Maybe that's what happens for some people. But for me it's a mere observation. I couldn't finish dao, just like I couldn't finish poe1. I didn't have to force myself to reach the level 18 in deadfire and I'll finish it soon.
And thus, despite all the bugs, blatant problems, completely pointless story and baffling design decisions regarding several of its aspects that I've noted as observations itt, it's still way better than DAO or poe if only because there's nothing as utterly shitty in deadfire as the bad guys infested dwarven tunnels in DAO or the endless paths in poe.
Keep your minute analysis of obsidian, bioware etc for yourself. I don't give a shit and it has nothing to do with the comparison.

I though that you were trollin when you asked about Wizards & Warriors. You really didn't play it?! Lol,it is pretty good wizardry and MM clone,it is real bitch to run on modern machines and it is filled with bugs. And i was not trolling when you asked.

Also everyone is saying that PoE 2 is extreamlly easy game.Even the last battle on hard was nothing much than heal when you need and nuke it with aloth. I could have let the AI do it if didn't disable their skill usage. I could have just hit space and watched as they beat the crap out of it. The game is extremely easy.

Rogue swore an oath of loyalty to orden and orden have rules ( they depends of orden). For example that members of orden cannot rob/steal things from priests of gods or they don't work with mages, work only for four hundred thousands dollars per 12 seconds and etc. There can be thousands of examples, rules can be stupid or not, it doesn't matter since because they all based on philosophy or faith in something. Not just practical measures.

rogue =/= gone rogue, you imbecile. desertion for example doesn't make you skilled at picking locks. you don't magically become a rogue by "going rogue".

Aside from vampires being talked about, I also liked Nagas.

I particularly liked one single random dungeon basically with just small 2 areas, where leader of nagas and archers were positioned on an elevation, with trapped stairs leading into it. That was like, holy shit, actual Icewind Dale memories flashing for me. Sadly it's not an average POE2 design - more like somewhat of an exception, usually you can remove all traps before engaging the enemy.

I know this is old but I still can't believe they use this word.

    :timetoburn:

Paladins are a victim of diversity/credentialism. Being a paladin was supposed to be hard, but the modern casuals don't understand what consequences are:

-Paladin 1.0 is a solider of good and justice. He gets especial powers because he lives by speshul codes. If he breaks the code, loses teh powers

-Paladin 2.0 is a soldier of virtue, but virtue is whatever his god says it is. Whoa postmodernism. So he still must live by the code but his code can be whatever

-Paladin 3.0 is a soldier of I don't even know. He needs a code even if the code is not following the code. Doesn't matter if he breaks it. Can even be an edgy atheist who hates religion and believes it's all a sham (?????????)

Lol, my wife is just playing through IWD HoW's Burial Isle (at my instigation), and I remembered where had I first seen these bloated corpses models. They are called "Drowned Dead" there.

With the ancient vampires? It had really nice decor, really liked it. It is shame that it wasn't a whole dungeon but only one room. I found them easier to be honest, they were unable to charm me. Only the three vampires at the crypt entrance managed to fuck me up for good. It strange that i was at higher level at the crypt than the one with the ancient vampires. Also i found the boss at the crypt a lot easier than those vampires. He was at just two Pillar of Holy Fire life. It is pretty amazing spell when overpowered.

Don't talk about all rogues, in this way :D. But if we talking seriously, even IRL people who disobey " official law " have their own laws and rules, just different. Humans just used to live in this way.

Yeah, same happens to me. My PC has 4 weapon slots, I often find 3rd and 4th to be empty. Quite annoying considering I'm playing a gun juggler build.

I think you're talking about a different area, the one I meant is just one cave littered with bones leading to ancient fampyrs, you're talking about the rectangular crypt with a room in the middle. Should have written cave, mbad.

I believe you mean Storm of Holy Fire, ye, that and Meteor Shower need the JES treatmeant, though it didn't really oneshot anything by itself for me.

I totally agree with you mate,it is a game that will be forgotten in a week. This thread would perceiver a few year thou. It is real shame that there is that many poe fanboys here. The morality system in PoE2 is a total joke,by the end i was Cruel, benevolent, kind, diplomatic, aggressive, sneaky all the other dispositions on max. I didn't even noticed them until the end.

Anyway, there's one thing about Deadfire that is criminally underappreciated, and that's worldbuilding.

Sawyer's autistic fingers and his obsession with history have left the mark on the entire game, and it shows everywhere, from level design to faction interactions and all of the various bits of lore lying around. It's all really well thought out, believable, and consistent with what we know about about our own great exploration era.

Eh, not really. Pillars of Eternity 1/2 are clearly D&D-derived, and the D&D paladin class comes from this book:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Hearts_and_Three_Lions#cite_note-webcite-4

    https://www.webcitation.org/query?url=http://www.geocities.com/rgfdfaq/sources.html&date=2007-07-20

    Paladin class
Based largely on the character of Holger Carlson from Poul Anderson's Three Hearts and Three Lions, as well as Anderson's original sources, Charlemagne's paladins in the medieval French chansons de geste ("songs of deeds"), particularly The Song of Roland and Ariosto's Orlando Furioso. The paladin's tie to a special war-horse is also from Three Hearts and Three Lions. ("I do not mean a saint, but a warrior whom God gave more than common gifts and then put under a more than common burden." -- Martinus, in Three Hearts and Three Lions, by Poul Anderson.)"

All the classic paladin tropes are there; strong moral code, tithing, resistance to evil magic, magical mounts, etc.

It's pretty good, because maxing out all dispositions is bad for you, since NPCs react to them. I had to kill Maia because I was Shady 2, without it I could have kept her.

Except that world don't even have official map or even if it has, this map and game contradict itself. There already was discussion about it.
