So it's always 4th injury regardless of difficulty or any other settings?

Shadowruns are p. "fast-paced" in terms of animations and such, only few things take long time like throwing grenades and some elemental spell animations. I don't know why turn-based combat developers think throwing a grenade should take half an hour.

None of them are quite similar to new Xcom except for being TB with guns. That new mario rabbit game is a good example copying new Xcombat.

Expert mode. And if you don't want expert mode, you can simply turn the "permadeath at first 0HP" on at any time.
It does occur, however it does confirm that there's no other reaction to this but reloading. It's only impactful on an Iron man run. But then again, you're more likely to lose in a fight.

What's the point of having any kind of failure state, then? Might as well enable godmode by default.

So the only instance in which a character can realistically die during combat in PoE is when you heal them a lot? :retarded:

I don't know what you're talking about. A character that falls in combat in PoE automatically revives at the end of combat (unless they're on their last 'life'). This doesn't happen in the IE games. That's the issue I'm talking about.

Saying that permadeath doesn't occur because you can rest, is like saying you cannot lose HP in a shooter because you can load a save each time you take a shot. I've had permadeath happen a number of times in each of my playthroughs. Mostly in Od Nua where you need to be really economical with resting because because backtracking outside to restock the supplies is a pain in the ass.

None of this is relevant. Dying is RPGs is a stupid event outside of games such as PST. Only autists argue about it.

I don’t know, Roguey. I distinctly remember one Joshua user talking with the ITS developers on steam and making compliments. Maybe he has another account?

That's the point, it is the autists arguing about such things and whining that game is too easy. When pressured it turns out the game was actually too hard for them, so they play it like gigantic faggots, abuse rest spamming or reloading a save each time a lonely Xaurip gently farts on the other end of the map.

I agree 100%. If you allow your dead characters to revive after combat there is next to none resource management going on, and not incentives to plan your actions properly. You can just use one character as bait to win the thing, since he will revive afterwards. It’s blatant popamolism.

Game are attempts to surpass unnecessary challenges. Dead is the state of failure in a cRPG. If you have no death, you have no challenge. Ergo, Death is integral to cRPGs, unless you are a popamole player. In that case, we should prevent you from failure.

No, it is not. Go fuck yourself.

"This game is so popamole, I can't beat it because I'm too hardcore." - is this what you said to yourself after switching to Story Mode?

A little funny how they call it "our stream" when it's really Versus Evil's. Obsidian's Twitch channel is just relaying it (and getting way more views lol)

What? Who said I would play in story, or easy mode? What is your line of reasoning here.

My reasoning is that just like you couldn't hack in on the Codex, self-ejected and came back on another account, you couldn't hack PoE on normal, self-ejected and came back on Story Mode.

They're all visually similar with regard to how your movement possibilities are conveyed and Shadowrun uses the "your team's turn, their team's turn" approach, though it uses 2 action points instead of "move and action/farther movement".

They also use the binary coversystem. It's visibly borrowed from neo-XCOM if you look at the movement "field" and cover icons.

EDIT: In fact I believe the devs even said as much in devlogs during development

You will not get away with insults. I asked you one simple question: why people demanding more challenge are the ones playing on easy? Do you have any information at all to back this up besides your predisposition for popamole mechanics such as regeneration post-batlle?

You're retarded. What now? A lightning will strike me down from the sky?

    *waits*

Right, I'm afraid you're wrong again, I will in fact get away with insults and you're in fact retarded.

Oh sure, let's analyze what people who supposedly "demand more challenge" are actually saying.

Fucksuki: "Lol the game was so easy, by the way I just reload every time someone gets knocked out Lol" - panics and reloads because he can't hack the game without full party.

Fuckrymas "Lol the game is so easy because rest system is unlimited" - incapable of managing resources and spells so he just rest spams all the time.

Fuckross - "Lol permadeath doesn't occur because I just rest before it happens" - gigantic faggot, scared of taking risks

Fuckface Self Ejector: "lol I just send one guy first so he dies and regenates" - you suck so bad you can't even keep your tank alive.

So yeah, it's pretty clear you're are suffering from massive, buttclenching insecurity about playing on Story Mode, so you come to the Codex and LARP hardcore muthafucka who just wants things ultra hard.

I've never said that. I don't think I've mentioned difficulty at all in the context of PoE in regards to the resting system. I've said that resource management is non-existent because resting is unlimited and everything outside of that is irrelevant rhetoric like "but I choose not to rest". Yeah, sure, but that doesn't have anything to do with how the game is designed and you'll always have that crutch to lean on when things get hairy, a crutch you wouldn't have had had the game been designed with resource management in mind. It's not anybody you mentioned's fault you don't understand what is being talked about and think we all secretly play on Story Mode (???). We have much more valuable insights into PoE's system than your blind fanboyism for a game which is nowhere near as good as games from 2 decades ago. Even if you don't think highly of me or my opinions, at least Sensuki has been courteous enough to prove his points in videos when PoE1's beta was relevant. Your shitposting is very easily ignored in that context, trust me, even if none of his opinions were true.

So you are using that old dishonest tactic of accusing your critic of what you are doing, as you are doing it to create confusion, also known as projecting. Let’s see:

If you need to reload to maintain a full party this gives the player an incentive to play better. Since you don’t want the hassle you acuse perfectionist players of being pussies. That’s a completely inversion of values.

You are saying that if the player can restore his resources every time, it’s the players’ fault for using the system, which is now perceived as an abuse because it fucks up the whole resource management. Strangely this "don’t abuse the system" talk never pops up when the system is properly designed. Again you are trying to criticise the player for reacting as a normal person giving the incentives that the system provides, instead of pretending in a bizarre fashion that the game mechanic does not exist.

The player can use the poorly thought system to his advantage and yet you try to argue that he is not good enough to play fair and square, but since playing fair and square is determined by the actual game mechanics, that’s actually the most efficient tactic the player can come out with, even though it makes the developers look stupid.

tl;dr In your mindset good players pretend that the broken mechanics of PoE don’t exist and the others that try to fix those flaws are cheating.

Oh ok. My bad then, I thought you were talking about health and maiming. Mostly because presenting it the way you present it is misleading, because :

    - fighter's recovery makes it very possible to lose all your health pool in one standing
    - "healing" only refuels character's endurance, health is still lost. So, no, it's not as simple as you have X times your endurance pool as "lives".

Yes, poe uses a health/endurance system.
I also heard they plan to remove battle xp and some say that prebuffing is gone :(:(:(

If you want a really shit health system, there's deadfire. They removed endurance health, so we're left with endurance only. Now it's really, actually impossible to die ;)

Just to remind you, I agree that permadeath has no impact.
Like in IE games, mind you.

What exactly did I say that was idiotic again? As far as I remember, I quoted what Josh said, compared it to what I said, and then gave the first example that came to my mind when CptMace asked, jokingly, as he admitted himself.

Sorry to disappoint, but the conspiracy theory where I intended to troll you with my post, all coming from something Josh said in a stream, is pretty far-fetched even for a conspiracy theory. :)

I don't have to make a post with the specific intent to troll, in order to expect some people to get butthurt from the point I make or from the way in which I make it, do I? Such was the case now. And I did say exactly that. This internet-age sarcasm mania has made people incapable of believing that what's been written is actually what the person meant to say. It always has to be an understatement, irony, trolling.

I'm sorry but from the way you directed this argument, from the role of various character classes to the state of D&D saving throws, I keep getting the impression that you are having multiple arguments with multiple voices, but neither of them is mine any more. Unless you get back on topic, I'll just have to ignore your response, because it's getting tiresome for me follow, and to refute successive strawmen, the latest of them being that I'm trolling. I don't think you are doing it intentionally. Friendly suggestion, maybe instead of going with your first and worst assumption about the other side's motives (something I am also guilty of oftentimes), try to actually read what they are trying to say.

People play in different ways, as you know. Some reload on dead party member, others rest spam, yet others don't reload on dead party member and go and ressurect the dead, yet others don't even resurrect. BTW, chunky deaths being permanent is a toggle in every IE game, as far as I recall.

Yes, and this idiocy has been pointed out in the past. How we still have misguided people insisting that health+endurance was ever good? It is a mystery, but my money is on the aforementioned tendency to play without paying attention to the rules or to what's going on in a screen. Every time from now on someone tells me health+endurance was good, I'll remind him that healing during combat will kill a character who hasn't duly restspammed, and that the point of this system was to prevent restspamming. How well it succeeded in PoE is plaing to see. :D
