Ride (44) vs [1d100] = 38

Marcán slaps the horse in the western direction, down the hill and hopefully out of the gryphon's prying eyes.

I'll just assume he takes the trail, then.

Borric starts to tumble from the saddle, but he pushes off at the last moment and manages to land on his feet behind the horse's rump
(roll your attack)

Ride (44) vs [1d100] = 8
Marcán calms his horse, and then dismounts. He prepares to attack the beast head-on.
Ride (44) vs [1d100] = 38

Marcán slaps the horse in the western direction, down the hill and hopefully out of the gryphon's prying eyes.

Marcán yanks on the reins of his horse to keep it under control and quickly dismounts. Realizing that fighting and holding on to the horse are going to be extremely difficult he slaps it on the flank with the flat of its blade. It whinnies loudly and bolts down the hill, away from the montrously large gryphon.
(roll your attack)

Urash reaches into a pouch and grabs a large throwing dart. He chucks it at the beast.

[1d100] = 42 vs 30
Urash dismounts and keeps his horse from bolting, but he's unable to properly load and fire his sling in the chaos. the stone sails wide of its mark and clatter harmlessly on the rocks.

Ker tries to calm his horse
Ride roll (40) [1d100] = 21
then readies his sling.

Ker stays on his horse and shoot at the beast from the side
Sling(77) = [1d100] = 67, Damage = [1d8] = 7
Ker keeps his panicking horse under control and does his best to load and fire his sling
Don't forget that when you are mounted your weapon skills are capped at your ride skill (40% in Ker's case)
Perhaps Ker could have spent more time learning to ride and fight from the saddle. The task proves too difficult and the sling stone sails wide.

Ride(44): [1d100] = 47
Rhenmyr struggles to control his horse.
He'll try to stay in the saddles unless the horse bolts and run's somewhere stupid. Then's He would try to jump off.
Rhenmyr finds his horse impossible to control as it rears and bucks trying to get away from the threat.
(roll a jump to see if you land safely. If not you are on your back this round and lose your attack this round. If you land safely, then move and attack as you wish).

Ker thought that fighting on top of a horse would not be much different from fighting on his own feet. He was wrong. Dead wrong.
"I will try to catch the horses, kill that thing already!"
Ker will spend the next turns getting a hold of the others' horses.

-25% from your skill. So 74-25 = 49%. You rolled a 49 which is exactly the highest possible number you could have rolled and still succeeded. So Borric is now on his feet and able to attack at will.

Apoligies for the slow reply rate lately, things have been a bit hectic. I should be back to a more regular schedule next week.

The large strange creature proves to be ungainly on the ground and is utterly unable to duck under the mighty Kurgan's crushing blow Gryphon's dodge (25%) vs. [1d100] = 92

Roll double damage (in other words: 2d10+6+1d4 and the creature gets no damage reduction from its thick hide)

Borric lines up the beasts head and strikes it with enough force to fall the hardiest of men. Unfortunately for Borric this is no man.

ROUND 2:
The creature looks momentarily stunned, but renews its assault. It seems especially interested in Borric's horse and lunges for the thing with both of its enormous talons and pecks with its beak.
Gryphon's attack (claws 70%) [1d100] = 40, [1d100] = 81 (bite 50%) [1d100] = 19
One of the claws swipes harmlessly at the air, but the horse tries to duck away from another claw but is too slow to also avoid the thing's beak
Horse's dodge (25%) [1d100] = 77
The claw rakes it and the thing pecks violently at the horses neck Gryphon's damage: claw [1d6] = 4+[3d6] = 13, bite [1d6] = 3+[3d3] = 5
The poor mount screams in terror as a the gryphon tears out its throat and an arc of blood sprays out in thick pulses from a torn artery.
Make another "Ride" roll (for whomever is trying to wrangle horses) to see if you can maintain control of the remaining horses -- minus Marcán's which is now galloping down the hill of its own accord.

Gryphon's Dodge vs Marcán (25%) [1d100] = 84
Marcán scored a special success vs. a failed dodge. That means double damage, plus damage modifier and Gryphon gets damage reduction from it's "armor"
Marcán ducks under one of the great beasts flapping wings and cuts a vicious blow with his falcata and strikes true.

Rhenmyr backs up nocks an arrow and looses it. It sails through the air and embeds deep into the creature's flesh.
Also a special success, and of course there's no dodging missile weapons.

Ride roll (40) [1d100] = 28
Sling(77) = [1d100] = 52, Damage = [1d8] = 3
Ker attacks one last time before trying to gather the horses.

Urash will try to throw another dart.

[1d100] = 24[/url vs 30.

Damage:

[1d6] = 1
Ker and Mab try to launch missiles at the reeling beast, but their shots go wide (don't forget Helly that all weapon and physical skills are capped at your ride skill % (40%)
Rhenmyr's steady aim proves true and his arrow finds its mark.
Mab closes the distance and attacks with his spear.
1d100 vs 79= 31
Spear damage [1d6+1] = 6+1 = 7

Sensing an opening after Borric's crushing blow to the gryphon's head, Mab rushes in trying to press an advantage in numbers to overwhelm the beast (It can't dodge any more attacks, after the initial one).
Gryphon's damage resistance: vs Marcán [1d4+2] = 1+2 = 3, vs. Rhenmyr [1d4+2] = 1+2 = 3, vs Mab [1d4+2] = 2+2 = 4
The quick succession of blows cripple the beast and bring it to its knees as it shrieks in pain and Rhenmyr's arrow pierces the beasts gullet, which brings it crashing to the ground with a loud thud.

The horses are clearly spooked by the dead gryphon and the death of Borric's pony. After a bit of effort, you are able to track down Rhenmyr's errant mount and the other creatures are brought to heel a distance away from the carnage. Instinctively you all walk up and marvel at the dead creature with it's razor sharp talons the size of daggers and its massive bulk, which easily eclipses that of the largest draft horse. Never in your wildest dreams did you imagine that the legendary gryphon was a real creature and not just the wild fancy of braggarts and storytellers. Its feathers glint in the fading light of day and feel like they are made of solid brass.
