Why would you paint anything today on paper ? I mean if you fuck up you need to redo whole thing (or scrape painting) while with layers you can do fucking magic quickly.

How do i install these?

Save the pictures, preferably with some human readable names. They need to have the same name, ending on _lg and _sm, so the game recognizes them. Put the files in your Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire\PillarsOfEternityII_Data\gui\portraits\player dir, under "female" or "male". It doesn't matter much where you put them because the game shows you both female and male portraits when you are choosing your portrait.

Doing my first playthrough of PoE 1 right now and stumbled upon this lovely portrait somewhere online:

But I shopped the haircolor from red to black and added some better pupils. Couldn't be happier with this one and I think it fits perfectly with the existing PoE portraits.

Generally there's very little variety among dwarf portraits which is sad, and very few are not "grumpy-looking guy with big armor and a huge axe/pickaxe/hammer", but I managed to find a few. I hope there will be some you haven't seen and may like:

BTW, I've been hunting portraits and replacing the watercolor versions of important NPCs. I'm pretty happy with the results, and I find that I approach the conversations much differently and use my imagination a lot more if I have a more detailed portrait image for the NPC, and turn off the reputations and skill check markers.

One more detail pass, and fixed a small mistake in the last update. Most of the stuff in the base game is pretty rendered, IMO they could have went with a sketchier/looser finish.

Hell, I scroll way too many pages and NOT ONE single pic that I find interesting, or worth downloading.

No, I dont use it to play PoE. But I DO use interesting pics to make portraits for other games.
