Furnok decides to supplement his gambling tricks with a sprinkle magic:

Is there any sort of wiki/layout for the T+ implementation of PRCs, or can I just more or less look at the stock PRC page on the SRD and roll with that? I know that Ranged Legerdermain wasn't included, was that the only class feature from the PRCs omitted?

No wiki entries yet, but other than ranged legerdemain all the abilities are in.

Thanks Sitra! To go along with the Eldritch Knight, could there be features added to help with the whole 'arcane spell failure' thing? It's hard to thematically play a caster-knight when you can't wear armor for fear of basically using your turn. Maybe adding whatever trigger Bards get for their armor to the EK, label it as the Armored Mage feat from warmage class. Battle Caster would be a great general feat addition from there.

I know Armored Mage isn't directly an EK thing, but it seems like the simplest workaround (so far as I can see it) for ToEE. PnP obviously has all variety of ways that an EK can help mitigate ASF, but weedling all of those in seems like it would be remarkably more difficult.

I think I can include something along these lines under an 'Improved Prestige Classes' house rules option.
I'm not familiar with P&P options for reducing ASF, but I reckon it doesn't hurt to list them.

I'll try to list as many as I know/can find.

There are actually quite a few materials that help with ASF. Maybe they could be implemented as +0 enchantments for appropriate equipment, while still having the appropriate costs?
  • Mithral DMG: A great material for armor and shields, but is more expensive. It lessens armor check penalty by 3 points, arcane spell failure by 10% and increase maximum dexterity bonus by 2.
  • Leafweave RoW: Reduces arcane spell failure by 5%, armor check penalty is lessened by 2 and maximum dexterity bonus is increased by 1. Leafweave applies on padded, leather, studded leather and hide armor.
  • Wildwood RoW: Lessens arcane spell failure by 5%, but reduces armor bonus by 1 and increases max dexterity bonus by 1.
  • Thistledown Suit RoW: Reduces arcane spell failure chance by 5% and increases the armor's check penalty by 1.
  • Feycraft DMG II: Not exactly material, this template can be added on any suit of armor. It gains the following: 10% less weight, -1 hardness, -5 hit points, -5% arcane spell failure. Also grants +1 bonus to bluff checks made to deceive others. The cost is 500 gp more.
  • Githcraft DMG II: Similar to feycraft, this is a template that can be added on a suit of armor. The armor's arcane spell failure is reduced by 5%. Also the bearer of a githcraft shield or armor gets a +1 unnamed bonus on concentration checks. The cost is 600 gp. Note that if you carry both a githcraft armor and shield, you probably stack the concentration bonuses, since they come from different sources.
There is also the Twilight enchantment (also in Magic Item Compendium) that is +1, and lowers ASF by 10%. Requires Cat's Grace to enchant.

These two pages seem to sum up the options available pretty succinctly:

http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Wizard...uum_(DnD_Optimized_Character_Build)/Equipment

By the way, I really want to thank you for the work you do! It's normally unheard of for me to replay a game within a year of beating it, much less this third consecutive playthrough I just started today!

RoW = Races of the Wild (-SA for self reference)

Assassin getting close to completion... also added infrastructure for modular feats (reads formatted .txt files from data\rules\feats).

P.S. class spell lists are now generalized, and can be switched from Spontaneous to Vancian or vice versa.

index.php

P.P.S. In principle, the Assassin class requires you to kill someone just for the sake of joining the Assassins... currently there's a somewhat obscure quest for the Traders that looks like it was made specifically for that. Should this be a precondition or just fuck it and let anyone choose the class?

I -very much dislike- RP requirements to enter classes. The only reason I'd include trader killing is to be able to bypass other mechanical requirements.

This seems like a job for house rules. By default, disregard RP requirements. With house rules, require killin' the traders!

I wouldn't mind if it required you to assasssasssasasssinate one of the more important NPCs of your choosing, Jaroo, Therion(?), Ramos and Gremag, Hendrack etc.
Getting it without rping is fine too.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards waiving that requirements as well. It's better suited to P&P where things are more flexible.

Well how would it work if you finished the quest for one character but wanted another PC to later become an assassin?

If I enforced that requirement I'd do it party-wise, because that's how ToEE rolls. Maybe if it was a D:OS mod... ;)

On one hand the inclusion might make sense, but is there any other content to make it feel like you've actually joined an assassins guild? I haven't done that quest yet.

There's some Co8 content that at least acknowledges that (but it's in Verbobonc).

I like the idea of having that quest as a prereq party wide for being able to class into Assassin. As long as it's available fairly early in the game before you hit nulb, I'm voting for having it in.

Blackguard coming up... the Aura of Despair feat seems to be working well.

On that note, I've opted out of the RP requirements - in the Blackguard's case, the 'peaceful contact with evil outsider'. As far as I can tell it's just a matter of casting Summon Monster III (Hell Hound) anyway.

Not forcing RP requirements also leaves the classes open for other content folks might develop.

While we're talking PRC requirements, there was an article by Wizards of the Coast that expanded Assassin to any evil any non-chaotic if you're interested. It's completely legal and, frankly, the presitge classes they put up on their website for free have a far higher average quality than the stuff they expected you to pay for.

I need to give this game another go. I only played it once and cheesed my way through it with a solo halberd wielding war cleric. It was a strange time in my life.

Could Assassin's alignment requirement be changed to "Any Non-Good" from "Any Evil" ? Not all Assassins in D&D are evil as far as I recall.

Any chance of adding Favoured Soul (divine equivalent of sorcerer essentially) as either a regular class or a prestige one in the future?

I'll be adding a 'lax rules' house rules option which will ignore alignment requirements for classes among other things.

I'll add Favoured Soul once I've hooked the character creation interface. Probably in the coming months since I also want to add subraces, psi and a generic 'features' selection for kits.

Once you hook it, will you also add stuff like mage specialisations or deity-specific kits (E.g. like how there are Knights of Mystic Fire as Mystra-oriented Paladins or deity-specific cleric kits in Faerun)?
