I am in the mood for fps/tps games so i going to rank my favorite first/third-person shooters.

Fallout: New Vegas(for me FNV is both a fps and a rpg just like Jagged Alliance 2 is a turn-based strategy game and a rpg)

Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crysis(i didn't beat yet but i have played alot of this game,that mission where you left behind from your army alone in enemy territory is one of the most memorable gaming momemts.)

tpss are shit, don't even mention them in the same thread as fpss again, only reason why jedi knight is good is because of lightsabers allowing you to avoid the "shooter" part.

The only good TPS in existence is the 2005 Punisher.

There is a difference between a game that pretend to be a action fps and then ended up being a popamole shit(like Call of duty) to a game that is all about cover mechanics (like Gears of Wars).

 

The term "popamole" was originally coined on the Codex to mock cover shooters.

been too long to remember exactly. I hate tpss in general because for the most part handling is a lot shittier than in fpss, and the perspective makes it even worse.

you guys are not progressive enough to enjoy all the beauty and beast of a popamole shooter,not saying i am a fan of popamole fps but i can appreciate different gameplays approaches.

You started and ended your own thread by having such a huge list in the first post. It doesn't really leave any room for discussion. Yeah I could list out my favorite FPS games but they are games that pretty much everyone else likes anyway, since FPS is one of the few genres with a number of undisputed classics.

Third person shooters are a more interesting topic since they're not discussed as often. I can't think of many off the top of my head that I would qualify as my favorites, but at the moment I am really enjoying Sniper Elite 4. One thing it handles really well is AI awareness; rather than the usual bullshit of every AI being alerted to your position immediately upon taking a shot, and tracking you with GPS like precision afterwards, enemies in SE4 are alerted to where the sound of your last shot came from and attempt to triangulate your position from that. So you can use this to your advantage by staying mobile and doing things like circling around to flank the enemy searching for you (which the enemies can do to you as well), or leave traps in your last known location. Sadly the game is a bit too easy so that you never feel pressured to take advantage of more involved strategies.

Psi-Ops is a pretty well known hidden gem. Although the shooting itself is mediocre it has the best implementation of psychic powers in any game. When I played it as a kid I would spend hours just throwing enemies across rooms while trying to get them to hit as many objects as possible.

The Suffering is another Midway game from the same time period as Psi-Ops. It has a really novel setting, prison island, with a lot of memorable and varied enemy designs. Again the shooting itself isn't amazing but all the wrappings make it worth playing.

Hops sorry for the late reply ! i was playing some matches of the prestigious league of legends,maybe you right ! instead of this thread i should have made a more productive and original thread like the 11th thread about how much Morrowind sucks,or maybe another thread about Sawyer or maybe a thread about New Vegas 2 maybe i should have made a thread praising fallout 1 and planetscape tournament or a thread about political stuff or maybe i should ask if people still rank baldur's gate 2 over baldur's gate 1...there alot of original and productive ideas for a thread right ? how dare i make a thread about first-person shooters.
