I'd be really interested if you guys made a video of how you construct an area in your editor from scratch.

I played BB and spellforce 1, didn't know they were german, though. Played gothic 1, but I'm not a fan of action-RPG and don't intent to play other PB games in nearest future. Blackguards and Drakensang are in the to-play list.

    have balls to quote/tag me.

But if you want to use rotten food v/s turd analogy; if you don't want possibly rotten food then better gorge on sjw cancer or starve altogether.

Let me remind you starving people will eat dog vomit with relish.

Also don't redefine meani gs just because its convenient to you. that is a leftist librul tactic.

Native language isn't necessarily the language you are most proficient with. Clearly you aren't too well versed in English.

How did we arrive to ESL bashing, turd eating and rap discussions again?
Anyway, i like the new screenshots and new doggo, but my fapping is still cautious.

Thankfully, humans can survive without RPGs for long periods of time (up to 80 years nowadays). You can avoid eating dog vomit when you don't have to. Who would've thunk?

Isn't necessarily, but it's one of the definitions.

I don't know how to rate your post now, because pillars WAS dog vomit, and wikipedia IS unreliable, and my post is correct. Tough decision making. Moral ambiguity and C&C.

Just FYI my English is competent enough that I managed to sell a couple of short stories to paying markets, which means some publisher somewhere liked my shit well enough to pay me actual money so he could print it in his anthology.
While that's not a guarantee of quality in itself (plenty of mediocre shit gets published in print all the time) it does remove the worst concerns about "his English might suck", doesn't it?

Also, wtf, do you want me to write a novel with Charles Dickens level prose, or do you want me to write interesting quests with multiple player choices, and juicy little lore tidbits that aren't boring to read?

This is an RPG, not a novel that's supposed to be submitted for a Nobel prize of literature. Chill the fuck out.

And this is a pretty good idea. We might make a video where we show off our level design process and how the editor works, yes.

Do you write in German and later translate to English?

Also, why do you have "jew" in the name? I am confuse? You probably need a rename, your success as an author would be greater if you had a name like Jarl Frank Sigthorsson or something along those lines.

I write in English and later translate to German, actually.

And the unfortunate spelling of my surname is a result of bad transliteration of Савельев to the Latin alphabet somewhen in the 1930s.

You make an interesting point. How old are you right now and how much money have you made off of your writing in all of your lifetime?

Books are a combination of narration (action), description and dialogue.
If you couldn't do all three to publish books as a writer, what are the chances that you can do just dialogue and come up with interesting situations for quests?

I'm not saying your writing is shit yet. I understand how my posts could be misconstrued as such, but I'm not.

I'd like to understand where this brazen confidence is coming from.

How much money had Vault Dweller made with his writing in a language that wasn't his native one before he published AoD?

I can't discuss that. Saying that I didn't enjoy AOD's writing here would be suicide.

But seriously, I wasn't delighted with it. It wasn't like meeting an old friend, as it sometimes happens with good books. I'm replaying Arcanum right now and even though it's nothing out of the ordinary, it's noticeably superior.

    Sorry. Don't kill me, pls.

VD is not a great writer. His prose is extremely stiff, which makes his characters appear wooden and one-dimensional.

Whether this is an effect of not being a native speaker, or the result of an extended business English exposure, can be debated.

A not-so-great writer can still write an interesting story. Even a bad writer can have good ideas. And a great writer can elevate even a mediocre idea.

It is not a zero sum game.

A few hundred dollars, which is not much, but I have only started seriously writing short stories in 2015 and been treating it as a side activity rather than my main profession.

I've sold 7 short stories by now (of which, to be completely honest, I only consider 4 to be truly good) and the editors of the anthologies haven't changed much about them before publication, which means my command of the English language is competent enough that editors don't have to correct my grammar and use of words, which is what you're worrying about, right? So if that's what you're worrying about, no need to do so any longer.

Since the published stuff of mine is all short stories, there aren't any reviews I can point you to (since reviews of anthologies tend to review the anthology as a whole and not pick out single stories), except for this one:

Deluge: Stories of Survival & Tragedy in the Great Flood (Biblical Legends Anthology Series Book 3)

Does that alleviate your worries somewhat?

Not sure where your impression of brazen confidence is coming from. I never claimed Realms Beyond's writing is going to rival Planescape Torment, but I am confident that I have the skill to create some engaging quests and an interesting setting for them to take place in.
I got a background in history and archaeology, been playing pen and paper RPGs for 6+ years, and have enough experience with CRPGs to know what works and what doesn't. So as far as world and quest design goes, I know what I'm doing.

Do keep in mind that I'm not the only writer of the game, either. We have some others working on the game too, with everyone focusing on one or two regions (my focus is on three regions: Pyrrhenia, the Wildlands, and Sabag-Hirar), and we're regularly communicating with each other to make the worldbuilding as consistent as possible and also forge some connections between the different regions (trade, diplomacy, and quests connected to those things).

For anything more, well, you'll just have to wait until we reveal a few quest concepts and see whether you like them or not.

The most important quality of game's writing is player's freedom to ignore it and kill the NPC who tries to sell you their writing.
