Did you not see where I changed my vote to the very thing for which you voted? He's going to be miserable either way.

I played demo release one and hated the lack of ~agency~. Felt like "playing" a VN with a mostly-superfluous city map. The part where I was railroaded into being able to choose nothing but stupid options was the last straw.

finally someone of the NWN2-tards gets it! (yeah, your posts still suck... like you should!:smug:) AoD is a legitimately interesting game that does an enormous amount of things so wrong it makes FO3 and oblolious retcons seem like the bestest things ever.. that's the kind of thing AD should play as "punishment". nwn2 would be so boring that 35 of the 40-60h allotted would be spent sleeping by everyone involved (and sleeping is awesome so no punishment would be involved)

VD throw at least latest beta at him, so he will have at least these 40 hours playtime. He'd pay for it before next millenium.

Wasteland 1 will get you prepped for W2 & it's lots of fun.
    Might & Magic 1-8.
    Wizardry 6 & 7.
    Jagged Alliance 2.

And there's always Swords & Sorcery - Underworld. I made it - this is a plug.

Edit: Wait what, there's already a vote? Maybe a poll would be a better format for that sort of thing?

You two are real sadistic bastards, you know that?
I also suggest he plays it.

I still keep my vote for NWN2 OC but Prelude to Darkness is a medium-to short game that is quite awesome.

If those are the games you like, it may be a good idea to take a look at your game.

    Heh, sorry, didn't see that.

Disagree that he's going to be as miserable though and heck even if he does we'll be more entertained either way simply because NWN2 OC is a terrible choice for a let's play, it's not even one of those games that is so ridiculously bad its playthrough can be fun to watch for the lulz or something, it's just a dull, utterly boring experience.

Besides, It would be interesting to hear his take on AoD, it's a cool little game that from my limited experience with it (only played R3 with different Assassin builds a few times, loved the overall writing, the sheer amount of various skill checks and stabbing people in the face with a dagger) can be quite fun to play around with, I'm mostly waiting for the full game (I don't want to spoil my first playthrough) but the version seemed quite stable as well (had very few crashes, mostly when loading a save) so it should be perfectly playable.

I'M BACK. After partially following the thread from my mobile phone and it's painstakingly small screen, I'm back at home ready to review the results. Thank you everyone for your input.

    Here are my thoughts.

Dark Souls - yes, this is a good choice, but I feel it lends itself more to a YouTube style LP, which many here have said they don't want. If I can get fraps to record this at a decent resolution, I might try it anyway. My horrible failing and flailing at Dark Souls would surely entertain someone. Is fraps the choice around here for recording?

NWN2 - I would actually enjoy this and could add a lot of insight into the game, however this seems to have been removed from Steam, I'm not sure why, and my actual hard copies are in storage and are not retrievable at the moment.

AoD - been wanting to play this anyway. Buying a copy of Age of Decadence, right now.

JA 2.13 - the 2.13 patch for me crashes frequently on my machine.

Grimoire - I could be down for this.

Arcanum - YES. I would do this in a heartbeat if there were enough votes.

ToEE - I've played this up and down a million times. The CoE mod, while greatly improving the game, also frequently crashes on my machine.

Knights of the Chalice - never played it.

Blood Bowl - I could be down for this with codexian players, or Obsidian teammates.

Vampire Bloodlines - I love this game. I think it is amazing and would easily do another run through of it.

Alpha Centauri - I have doubts enough already about making this LP entertaining. Someone out there made an entertaining LP of a PBEM game of AC revolving around rediscovering beer or something like that. It was hysterical and I cannot top it.

    Primordia - never played it.

    Pathologic - never played it.

System Shock - I have not played the FIRST one in AGES. The second one I just recently went through it and beat it after it was released on GoG and Infinitron had his SS2 mod thread.

Wizardry 8 - hmmm, this seems like the LP would get bogged down by all the random encounters with wild poppys and bandits on the road.

M&B:Warband - According to Steam, I've sunk 187 hours into M&B:Warband, though I never played Prophesy of Pendor and I don't know what the companion mods are.

Freedom Force - played it once when it came out BEFORE I worked in the game industry, back when I worked for Netscape/AOL. Never played it again. I greatly enjoyed it at the time.

    DA2 - hahahha, no.

Skyrim - ok. I always manage to have fun playing Skyrim.

Gothic 1 - I don't think I ever successfully played or beat any of the Gothics. I bought Gothic 1 WAY back in the day when it came out, it ran like crap on my machine at the time.

Darklands - Yes, absolutely, I love this game.

So should I put up a poll with voting, or just jump into AoD?

I also just got an idea to LP Papers, Please!

That might be a lot of fun. Maybe I should get it.

There is some licensing issue with NWN2 and steam. If you previously bought it, you should still have it though. If you really want it, GoG has it.

Huh, maybe you can show Avellone how to play Arcanum.

Fine, JA2 won't win anyway because of newfags. Switching to Arcanum.

There is a small Codex league going on. Very informal, not a tournament with required match dates or anything, just an opportunity for dexers to unleash horrendous butthurt upon each other with the help of Nuffle. Honestly this holds more appeal to me LP-wise than a single-player RPG, since I'd rather just play those myself than watch someone else do it. A game like Blood Bowl, with the various team and opposing player combinations, allows for a more interesting LP imo (not just repeating the same stuff everyone who's played the game has seen or thought).
