If you have done pen & paper gaming for any length of time, there's a good chance that Rick Loomis' work has influenced you. Me, Flying Buffalo was like my favorite RPG company back in the day. I won't bore you with my reminiscences but yeah this guy is a major figure in how I grew into the hobby.

Of course, running an indie gaming studio isn't a great way to become a millionaire.

Trying to get healthcare through the VA is notoriously bad in the US. There are long waiting lists and some of the doctors try to find any excuse not to do their jobs, or so I've heard from the veterans in my family.
