Joseph Hewitt is still plugging away at his mecha roguelike, GearHead 2, as evidenced by a recent update, gameplay videos, and NPC development system.

I’m fairly pleased with the GH2 model for character development. It’s based on two attributes: Attitude and Motivation. Attitude describes the NPC’s current feeling towards the PC. Motivation describes the NPC’s motivation, or at least what the PC perceives to be the NPC’s motivation. Both of these values will change as the campaign progresses.

Despite some identity confusion issues, LambdaRogue is also moving along with a v1.51 patch.

I have released a patch for LambdaRogue 1.5, so we are now at version 1.5.1. The patch fixes some minor, but annoying bugs and introduces the "skip the boring temple level"-feature. You can now directly start in the dungeon, instead of wasting your time with talking and trading.

Gragt wants you to know that Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup is at v0.6.0.

* Removed Divinations spell school.
* Three new gods: Jiyva, Fedhas, Cheibriados.
* Altars for dungeon gods may now appear on levels 2 to 9 instead of the Temple.
* New water based branch: the Shoals, sometimes replacing Swamp or Snake Pit.
* Overhauled AC/EV system. In particular, effect of Dexterity on EV is uncapped.
* Strength has a much greater effect on carrying capacity.
* Slime creatures and ugly things are more interesting and dangerous.
* Many cool new monsters, portal vaults and ammunition brands.

And IndieGames dabbles with Madness, a new title with a Lovecraftian gimmick.

In Madness you have a sanity meter that counts down after every couple of moves, but you can replenish it by drinking a potion of sanity if you have one in your possession. Weapons and armor can be equipped, and you will need to light torches and lamps regularly to illuminate your surroundings.

When your sanity is low, you will begin to imagine things. Instead of fighting the usual array of rats, goblins and dragons, players may have to do battle with odd creatures like butterflies, flying spaghetti monsters and unicorns (both pink and robotic varieties). Occasionally you may even come across one of your brethen, but the state of their mind is more likely to cause concern rather than bring a sense of comfort.

    You should consider fixing this.

    I'm looking forward to GearHead 2. First one is very impressive as for a rogue-like. The ability to modifying Mechas is just great and of course, Chain-mail bikini ;)
