[ Demo ]

KOEI has released an English language demo of their long running Romance of the Three Kingdoms series for the PC. Hard to believe but it's been nearly 14 years since there's been an English PC version released. Brings back memories of the hours I wasted playing RTK 1 and 2 on my NES. Enough nostalgia the demo's only 280 Mb so get it while it's hot.

One of video gaming's longest-running historical simulation series returned to PC

KOEI has released a playable demo of Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI, allowing you to try out the PC version of this game produced by Kou Shibusawa. Set during the end of China’s Han Dynasty and the 2nd and 3rd centuries A.D., Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI presents the most visually captivating evolution in the history of the series. As the ruler of a kingdom, each player will have complete control over their territories. More than 40 base commands give players the power to govern cities, manage their personnel, practice diplomacy and much more. For improved control over each military campaign, RTK XI’s turn-based game play allows the player to plan their movements without undue time constraints, and then execute their battle tactics when ready. RTK XI also introduces an entirely new system for researching military techniques, as well as an Advanced Tactics System that allows players to drive or lure enemies into devastating ambushes.

Spotted @ Gamer's Hell

    So puny? Wonderful!

(funny, instead of telling it on the website they - KOEI - are offering to download an utility which is supposed to scan the hardware and tell whether the PC can run it or not. however, it tells nothing other than what kind of system you have)

I can't really wait. For a time I seriously considered buying myself a crapstation2 just to play RTK 7+.

The official UK site is giving the same specs though so I think they're good.

Yeah, it was originally released in 2006, so it's pretty easy on the hardware. Not to mention it's turn based so that lessens things even further.

The demo is super short, though, only get to play the tutorial. It's surprisingly silly. Nice to see KOEI has a sense of humor about the characters they've been using for 25+ years.
