It has the aesthetics, the humor, and perhaps it even tries to be kid-friendly, but I think it fails and I doubt many kids will spontaneously like something like Undertale. Personally, I think it's safer for a kid to play Postal 2 than Undertale :smug:

Besides, its fanbase seems to be full of degenerates :shittydog:

What is not safe in it? I am guessing it is some hidden gay propaganda shtick?

Well, "safe" perhaps wasn't the best word. I was thinking more about the whole moralizing and 4th wall breaking the game does. Sure, if you play the pacifist route I guess it's fine, because in the end everybody joins in a collective hug, but that's the problem, the alternative to that is genocide, and the game requires a lot of metagaming. Then there are the humans and "Monsters", although the only reason anyone calls them monsters is because that's how the game labels them. They look like plush toys and act like children or weird cosplayers. But then you can brutally murder them and bath on their tears, and the game reminds you how evil you are, and not just in-game, but breaking the fourth wall.

I really can't imagine myself enjoying this game as an 8-year-old kid. I mean, come on, the first big decision the game throws at you is to kill a motherly figure, but it hides the decision so you are not really aware of what is going on, so then the game can mock you and chastise you for what you did. It's like someone killing Bambi's mother and then talking directly to the spectator with her head on a pike and saying "hohoho, you killed her, it's all your fault! Now, reload if you dare!"

It's SAFE to say this is not as much as a safe game for children as it is for regressed manchildren (and womanchildren!).

As an 8-year-old kid I was an extremely edgy motherfucker who would be ashamed of playing a game with cuddly furies. Mortal Kombat with fatalities that included ripping spines from corpses and chopping heads was my main dish, making fun of faggots who liked hand-drawn non-gore Street Fighter II was simply a desert to be enjoyed afterwards.

This is the main reason why I burst out laughing whenever I read some dork throwing his feces all around the webz just because someone enjoys things that thematically aren't grimdark drivel but lighthearted, suited for all ages gems. It really is fucking comical to see adult men that share the same infantile needs of little toddlers who want to be viewed as "cool" and "all-grown-up" and think the way to achieve it is by only liking "adult" stuff that includes extreme amounts of sex, violence and pessimism which is also usually warped in a shit stained colour palette.

Agreed. All of the people talking about how deep, dark, mature, etc. Undertale is because you can kill a motherly figure or genocide all the monsters com across as rather silly.

I liked Undertale. Think the humor hit far more than it missed, found the characters entertaining, loved the sound design, was okay with the art design, and the story/reactivity kept me interested enough to get through a pacifist run. Do agree that most of the enjoyment is dependent on whether or not you can put up with 'quirky' humor and a cutsey art design though, that and the gameplay was never something I grew to entirely enjoy, only really tolerate. Overall, I'd say it was one of the better indie titles coming out this year, though its sudden gigantic spike in popularity does seem to stem from it being flavor of the month material.

The love Undertale gets reminds me very strongly of when MLP and Brony culture became a thing, only Undertale is far more digestable because even my token idiot "likes games that he doesn't play" friend loves it. The gameplay seems tedious. The humor for people in a quarter life crisis. That fucking "tsundere plane" thing is a perfect representation of what this game is, a taste barometer of the modern gaming audience. Sophisticated enough to have a gaming PC, not hardcore enough to care about things like gameplay or being -pandered- to.

If you don't like the humor, the writing isn't terribly strong or even above average. And the save/reload shit essentially amounts to a really big thematic gimmick in the end. No pink/purple ponies and neckbeards (yet) to get people to shutup about the game YET.

Not what I meant if you are referencing what I said. I don't think the game is "dark", and it's certainly not mature. For lack of a better word, I'd describe it as "disturbing"... or just weird.

In retrospect, I think Toby expected his game to fly under the radar enough that a lot of the people playing it wouldn't have been spoiled at all when they tried it. There's a world of difference between the guy who did the genocide route because he heard about it and wanted to see the whole game, and the guy who did it accidentally and

This is incorrect. You didn't quote LundB at all, you stated it directly yourself. As this means you are therefore lying about brofists, I have no choice but to punish you. The Codex takes brofists very seriously and lying about them is not right. As such I have transferred your 4,974 brofists to Scrooge while you learn that lying is wrong.

Please continue to tell everyone how this makes you feel.

Also I notice your new account appears to be avoiding tags you legitimately received as a result of betting. I have returned this to you, as is right.

Once again another shit game brings about a thread with more entertainment than the game could possibly provide.

You seem to be personally threatened about my ability to quickly earn brofists as opposed to your protegés, like Scrooge.
