You have forgotten some rpgs like The legacy or Stonekeep that would be deserve to be in this list more than others like deus ex HR (deus ex 1 deserve to be in this list but deus ex HR, I don't think. Maybe in the list of 100' or 150' but not 75 and definitely not before The legacy).
I am disappointed that mmight&magic I doesn't in the list. In world of xeen and M&M 3 description, you said that it's one of the best rpg in m&m license. Introduce M&M 7 and not M&M I is very strange.

Nobody on BSN seems to like the list. :negative:

Huh, did a quick google search and found it. Interestingly it also puked back a result regarding BSN's reaction thread to the ME3 review. Most entertaining read indeed.
It's a shame the replies didn't come back with any intelligent counter-argument....
We should have something like (now with drone reviews)! And snip the butthurt for some comparison.
This graphix suks! were s my awsom button!? Me want awsom! And lotsa sexscene with romance from porno!

This article made me want to try Arcanum.

Since it's already an old game, what do I need to enjoy it? I've already found it on GOG, so I guess compatibility won't be an issue. Since one of the reviews in this article mentions lots of bugs, are there patches (official and unofficial) I should be aware of? How about mods (graphical/resolution/content/etc)? Also, what kind of character build would you recommend someone playing this game for the first time (i know part of the fun is to create anything we want and see how the world reacts to it, but for a first try I would like a balanced build that wo't be frustrating to play)?

Nothing less than inspirational work by all involved.
Thanks for documenting all these timeless classics (even if you guys got them in the wrong order)

Arcanum Mods

I used Drog's Patch and the high resolution patch.

Since the Combat is no fun, I recommend a Magic Build that uses the overpowered Harm-Spell a lot, and high Social Skills to see more the different possibilities to solve the quests.

Would you look at that. I said it was too much work, I said you were too ambitious, but here it is. A little bit delayed, but looking fucking great. Huge kudos to you felipepepe, I daresay this is some of the most worthwhile content we've ever put up.

Good job Codex. :salute:Now, let's wait a year or two and see, if any of the new releases manage to change anything in the top 10 (20?).

Hey...Where is Fallout 3, Borderlands 2, Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3? I thought we reached IGN level of professionalism. Codex you disappoint me.

The definition of a moron is posting on reddit.

It doesn't matter if your post is copy/pasted. You're still a moron.

Alpha Protolol, Dragon Age, Mass Effect and BOTH Witchers not enough for the professional level?

Well, aside the order in the list, which obviously varies from individual to individual, and delicious personal butthurt about certain games, I'd say this is a pretty awesome list of the best cRPGs (and some great games with RPG elements) up to now. Great job with the mini-reviews too.

Anyway Codex: good work but.......Ultima VII at #33? :negative:
We've been throught this, the issue was that I splitted The Black Gate and Serpent Isle. Looking back now was a bad decision, if you combine the voted for both games, U7 would be at #23.
It's not a real problem in the end, because the list is still very good (and better than many other shitty lists on the web)...
It's just a little strange that on this website (full of glorious old school lovers and experts in the history of RPGs) a game like U7 Part One+Two (with his great historical importance and impressive structure full of interactions, reactions and revolutionary routines for an Open World RPG in 1992) just ends up in #33 position...

well, Todd's counterintelligence appears to work, because he has pretty good arguments there.
Todd Howard : pretty good argument = Berlusconi : Legality

I repeat: AP is a shitty TPS with shitty balance and shitty bugs....no problem in admitting these obvious defects...
But it's also an "RPG", not only an Action/Stealth based, and if "RPG = choices and consequences in a linear/non-linear context" (this is the shortest version, otherwise I need a boring Wall of Text) AP achieved the real goal of an RPG in a so original way that no one had ever do before (if we take a look to the historical evolution of this genre in the last years)...
Does this mean that "ALPHA PROTOCOL IS DAFFUCKING MASTERPIECE! THE CITIZEN KANE OF RPG!!! HURR DURR!!!" ? No...no need to be fanboy or hater here...
It's just a conclusion a bit less simplistic and pessimistic than the cassidy argument "tl;dr Alpha Protocol is the most overrated piece of shit in the Codex."

Why don't you like what everybody else likes? What are you some dissident with your own preferences and taste? For shame.

Posting in this thread to say I'm not going to read any of these or even click the link. My opinions were cemented a long time ago.
Where do I start? Darklands, the Ultimas, the Geneforges, the System Shocks, the list goes on.
