I. General
- We now have a ventrilo server for those of us with a morbid fascination for listening to other angry nerds.
- We've currently got 35 slots on it, but I'll bump it to 50 if space becomes an issue
- I've made a "guest" password you can use until I get peoples accounts set up.
- Until further notice, you and your friends can log in with the password: newfag
- Friends are welcome to log in with the guest password. I'll be rotating it regularly (and PMing Kodex Tru BROs the new one) to prevent cybersquatting.

II. Getting Started
1. If you haven't already, download Ventrilo
2. PM Ulminati and ask nicely (or not so nicely) for an account.

a. Any poster who's been around for a few months, has made a handful of posts and isn't a shit alt is welcome​

b. Your user name on vent will be the same as your user name on the codex​

c. You can tell me what password you'd like, otherwise I'll make one up for you​

3. Start up ventrilo

a. Make a user with the same name as your RPGCodex account​

b. Make a new connection​

c. Under "hostname or ip" type: dm.clanwarz.com​

d. Under "port number" type: 4205​

e. Under "password" type the password used when I made your account. Alternately type the guest password​

4. Rejoice, brother! You should now be able to log in

- Sorry, no. Personal accounts are for prestigious regular posters. He's welcome to use the guest password however

- Whenever I change it, all regular users will be notified. Probably either through a PM here or by the Message of the Day when they log in on vent

Compared to Skype the volume's very low, isn't it? I guess Skype cranks up the Gain up to eleven, will have to fiddle up with that

 

Setup->Voice->inbound slider
I have mine on -1 (turned down slightly) since it's fairly loud on my end. You may have activated a voice boost somewhere in skype.

While the idea is nice, Mumble has far superior sound quality compared to Ventrilo.
