RPGDot have posted their exhaustive review of the nifty German RPG, Gothic II. They gave the English version 91% and the German one, 94%. Both versions also received the prestigious RPGDot Platinum Award.

The game is very good in what it does. It lets the player experience a fantasy story in a seamless medieval 3D world. This world is unique in its combination of details, believable NPCs and freedom of exploration. It´s hard to find any real weaknesses except the translation: The graphics are beautiful, sound and music good, the quests diversified, story and pace pretty good. Possible points for criticism are the improved though still non-standard controls and the self-responsible real time combat.

Gothic 2 takes its place among the best single player RPGs. Maybe even the top position, but that´s a matter of taste, as always in this genre full of ambitious games.

This game might just be able to compete with Morrowind for the third-person RPG crown.

My copy of Morrowind must have been buggy as hell - the entire game played in first person mode for me.

You could play in 3rd person. Just had to press a key (I guess it was TAB?)
Same as Gothic 2 has a key that makes you go from 3rd person to 1st person (and again, I guess it is TAB...I see a pattern emerging)
    Whoopee I say,
