RPGs in 2013?

When the votes are totaled, do the mods take into consideration the number of trolls on this site? Because surely half the votes are for lulz.

It would be pretty funny though if BG2EE won.

I don't think early access games should count but then the list might get pretty short.

Why isn't Dragon's Dogma on the list? Is it PC only? What about Heroin Quest?

 

I think having BG2 on this list is a little unfair, so I voted for SRR. Really enjoyed it despite being a pretty linear experience.

 

Classic Codex would say it's an action adventure, not a RPG.

 

No it is most certainly a CRPG, just not a very good one.

 

Fuck no, if we're voting for BG2EE then I'd rather vote for Arcanum on GOG or something. After all, a re-release that's shittier than the original < a re-release of exactly the same title. BG2EE should be judged on the additional work that was done on the title, which certainly doesn't compare to something like E:C, even if the latter isn't exactly a super awesome classic.

 

I propose publishers start focusing all these shitty FPSers onto the consoles and they bring all their third person hack-n-slash RPG-lite games onto the PC.

Expeditions and Shadowrun Returns... vile creatures.

 

Sword of the Stars: The Pit is a pretty decent indie game.
Dust: An Elysian Tail is ok too.

Those are the only rpgs from 2013 I have played.

 

If you allowed expansion packs into the competition and let people vote anonymously, Dragonborn would win in a landslide.

 

If there is a next time, I'm going to divide those things into gold, early access, dlc, expansion categories... and probably try to distinguish real rpgs and games with rpg elements... that is if I live to 2015 and still a faggot.

 

Next time you wont have to do that, trying to scavenge the fishes from the bottom of a dying ocean ,only to end up with some weird ugly hybrids you will throw back to the sea... No, next year it will be a competition between underrail , age of decadence , DDOS, wasteland 2 ,blackguard, and eventually even pillar of eternity and grimoire release.
2014 will be glorious ! Or another shitty year with postponed releases...

What about Smugglers V? it is more RPG than Dragon Commander or Expedition Conquistador.

 

My personal GotY 2013 is Path of Exile by a pretty wide margin.
In general it was another really disappointing year, though. Here's hoping 2014 brings all the incline we were promised last year and then some.

 

Even January is better from most of 2013 with M&MXL and Blackguards.

Edit: Also, The Banner Saga is on its way for 14th too.

 

AoD and Grimoire too with a bit of luck.
