Asceron have announced their intention to optimise Sacred 2 for laptop computers:

The Action RPG will boast a new level of optimization specifically targeted at gaming on notebooks from the hardcore gaming rigs down to the 128Mb onboard chipsets.

Notebook-specific features include essential items such as in-game battery and wi-fi indicator displays, and the Ad-Hoc multiplayer mode (AMM) which is an innovative approach to gaming “on the move”, delivering fast Ad-Hoc wireless game creation and joining. All functions are actively supported by the Intel Centrino Processor Technology.
Commenting on SACRED 2 – Fallen Angel for notebooks, Heiko tom Felde, Managing Director of Ascaron Entertainment GmbH, explained, “Mobile PCs now account for over 60% of all PC hardware sales. Over the past few years this has created a huge market growth which is often disregarded by other major releases. The philosophy behind Sacred has always been to be accessible to everyone, in terms of gameplay, entertainment and system requirements. Notebooks and SACRED 2 – Fallen Angel go hand-in-hand, allowing everyone to participate in the positive and rewarding game Ascaron has developed.”

I think that might actually be some real innovation right there. They've also released some kind of laptop trailer movie as well. I didn't look at it, it was 177 MB.

actually this is something ive been waiting to see for some time, with the drop of laptop prices and ultra cheap OLPC like alternatives, laptops might become as common as ds with the the advantage you dont look like a dork while playing with it, plus it has easy connectivity, usually powerful hardware, and they keep getting lighter.
laptops could hold the next "portable" platform title (they need to get rid of vista and increase battery life tho, oh and terminate those annoying faggy "intel centrino" ads that promote playing during class, great way to convince parents to buy laptops for their kids, really...)

Interesting. I like this shift in PC gaming from requiring $5,000 l33t-box computers to play PC games (CRY-MOARtek) to developers making games for less-demanding/ older hardware specs.

This makes it seem like they put a lot of effort into it rather than it being just gimmicky.

That certainly is a nice move and more should follow their exemple.
