There's a preview of Sacred 2 over on Action Trip. It covers the change from the isometric view point to how monsters aren't friendly and this:

As opposed the previous game, Sacred 2 features crucial moral choices throughout the experience. The Seraphim class is a good example for this. Though once benevolent, this race has been severely influenced by evil. This, of course, has a tremendous effect on their armor, weapons and fighting style. Hence, if you decided to play as the Seraphim, you'll be able to alter everything from weaponry and a wide array of armor, to the shape and size of your might wings. The alignment you have chosen also determines how NPCs look upon your character - to the NPCs, you can either be a fried or a foe. It all depends on whether the player prefers a dark or light personality. Actually, a lot in the game depends on your will and the choices they you make along the way. In addition to that, spells, skills and various combat moves can be developed freely and may also be customized via a tree-based system.

Remember the good, old days when you could be evil without transforming physically? You'd think that would put a serious crimp on your evil style having people be able to look at you and know you're evil.

True saint, true, but at the same time I've been looking for a hack and slash epic to take up my time for a long while now, and I must say I'm looking forward to this game, regardless of that stuff. Hell, in the first game, for the most part you could only be good, with just a few side quests here and there that were open to suggestion.

I hope they allow for minotaurs or Orcs to be playable races.

I love this quote from the preview:

This is a real let-down because I was expecting to don my badass weapons and armor and then invite some goblins and zombies over for a tea party and perhaps a game of Hungry Hippos.

Do they ever agree to play it with you again Blackhart?

I blame Fable and KOTOR. It was okay to have the evil showing in B&W, but then it was mostly just for the player's benefit. You could argue it made sense to have the character change in KOTOR as it fits in with the story and themes of that world too. It seems a bit silly to walk into a town and have the horns and leathery wings on display for all to see - "oops, my evil's showing!" *puts on hat and overcoat*. They should have a more realistic reputation system if they want consequences for evil actions and changes in NPC reactions. The mutation thing seems like a lazy way of doing it.

Scrabble is great! You can insult people and still pretend that it's a part of the game.

Sacred 1 was nice h&s, although easy. Story was barely noticable. I killed the final evil foozle without a slightest trace why he deserves to die.
Evil vs Good apperances change is feature that appeals to xboxorz kids. It's cool and extreme when your character has red, eyes horns and other stuff. Same with magic fire burning swords and other shit.

So that kinda sucks, not even bethesda managed to come up with bugs like that

In KotOR 1 you could be a walking corpse and lie to the Jedi Council that you werent evil. To this the yoda wannabe responds that he doesnt sense any dark side signs. What...? And later the yoda wannabe tells the admiral that, after his conversation with Bastila over those 3D monitor things, he could feel teh evalage in her.

I'm sure the Star Wars fanboys would know of some reason they could make that fit the canon. Some kind of magic/special powers no doubt.

I was actually referring to the perspective. I fucking hate this freely rotatable camera nonsense, because it distracts from... no, wait, I mean:

OMG NO MOER BIRDVIEW I CANT SEE SHTI WTF IS GOIN ON OHNOES ME CONFUZED!!11

    Yeah...

Best part about Sacred 1 is that the latest patch for Sacred Gold or Underworld removes the copy protection. Woot ;)

Sacred 2, well, oddly enough I actually don't know much about it. Was asked to beta test but had to turn them down, I just don't have enough time any more.

And with regards to an earlier post in this thread about a boss not showing up when it's supposed to-that was something I always hated about Sacred. The damn triggers that didn't get triggered or storyline critical characters getting killed or lost.

Oh well, I'll be playing it when it comes out, if they ever get done with it.

Well, that's the thing about Sacred, Hal. They weren't really done with it until a year after it was released. :D

I am a little upset about the camera thing. I don't like having to deal with a camera in a CRPG. Still, I liked the first one enough to be curious about this one.

I've played virtually every Diablo clone over the years and hated them all with the exception of Diablo 1 & 2. I thought Nox was just okay, but I did play it far after the release.

I've yet to play the newer ones like Fate, Sacred and Titan Quest. Are these any good or are they just not as shitty as Dungeon Siege while you kill time for Diablo 3? I'm just chucking it out there since I've been seeing Fate threads getting bumped and all the new Sacred 2 news.

Fate is great if you liked the original Diablo. It's a bit simplistic, but very addictive. Sacred is more like Diablo 2, only awesome and with a huge open world, instead of themed acts. It also features a rather unique skill system, rideable horses and a shitload of optional sidequests. If you get the addon, you can also play as a gun-wielding dwarf, which should be an option in every game, by the way.

Titan Quest is just Sacred's retarded little brother. Not nearly as pathetic as Dungeon Siege though, but if you don't have any of these, you should put TQ at the bottom of your list.

Why is TQ considered a poor game? Im not an ARPG expert and all, but it seemed fairly decent.

Sacred 1 pissed me off with its 5 second respawning monsters. You'd work your nuts off to clear out an area only to walk back through 5 seconds later and find everything's respawned almost as soon as you've killed it.

Yeah, not sure myself on the new camera angle but I can't say there's anything that's compelling me to pick it up anyway.

Maybe it's because it's a GERMAN game? That did the trick as an argument for THE FALL, did it not?

On topic: I'm very much into the new engine, but knowing Ascaron's (they have their studios only 50 miles from my home) track record gives me the creeps about the engine's performance. Every (alpha) preview ran as a slideshow on uber machines. I like that they concentrate on the Seraphim because it was the only interesting character in SACRED 1 (the SACRED UNDERWORLD dwarf I find annoying).

I'm not quite sure what the general opinion of that game is around here (well, Rex liked it a lot), but in my opinion, it was nothing but a poor man's Sacred in literally every aspect. The character development was fine and somewhat interesting, but the gameworld was boring, barren and unappealing. It also felt way too straight forward, even for an action RPG and the resource hungry engine (which didn't even pay off, since the game simply didn't look that good, aside from the animations) didn't make it any more enjoyable either.

It's not a terrible disaster or anything, but it sure pales in comparison. Even Nox was more fun.

Where's Volourn, when you actually need him to ask the immortal question "Why do you lie?" ;)

That is a pisser, yes. But, I'm willing to let it ride for now before ripping into them for it or something. I'm gonna be the type to wait and see, as they have a better track record with me than Interplay or Bethesda.
