Well, if you can win a worldwide Starcraft championship while blindfolded, you *might* have a chance. ;)

Basically, opening a lock 3-4 levels above your skill involves clicking a random sequence of 3-5 buttons in a fraction of second. In fact, even opening an equal level lock is fairly troublesome for a proper human being who is not an actiontard. Slowtime spell is really valuable for that purpose. I never checked how it synergizes with zero lockpick skill though, only with somewhat-lower-than-feasible.

    Sorry but no.

Flight sims are easy to classify, you could argue if its realistic (Falcon) or Arcade (Strike Commander) but ultimate you know what you get, Sport games likewise, Strategy games are pretty only divided by real time or turn base (and turn base are now rare).

The only gender that have a loose definition is RPG, none other.

Well Mass Effect 2 have "stats" yet they are rather rather irrelevant to most basic mechanics, most classes play the same.

    Again, Mass Effect 2.

Again, Mass Effect 2 (were enemies have no levels).

Granted ME2 might not be a "true" Action RPG but that is what is being marketed as and its also what the gaming press call it.

Even if I agree with you in several points, that is not what Sawyer said and that is what I was pointing out.

There are others. Action-Adventure, for example, no?

For Mass Effect 2... (1) it's an Action-RPG hybrid, which means there's going to be a mix between Twitch Skill AND Stats affecting combat, and the mix is never strictly 50/50. (2) It's a sequel to a game whose stats did matter more, and they're not going to bother reclassifying the game.

My main question is this: If ME2 is classified as an Action-RPG, then what elements in ME2 give it the RPG part? Is it the stats, or is it something else?

    Checking GameFAQs now...

Level 4 Heavy Warp does 200 pts damage. Level 1 Warp does 120 pts damage. That's almost an 100% increase in damage (and that's also ignoring other gained effects).

There are also a bunch of upgrades for weapons, armor, etc, that have similarly significant effects.

Are you sure? I also used "levels" loosely... Are you sure enemies don't get harder in their stats/skills/HP as the game progresses? If I put zero points into upgrading my skills, weapons, and armor, can I still win?
