For some odd reasons we are covering Gauntlet: Seven Sorows, which is, apparently, a some kinda fusion between action and even more action, created by John Romero and JE Sawyer of the BIS' fame. Anyway, Total Video Games has just posted a 6-page interview with JE, so take a look:

Characters can level up, just as they could in Legends and Dark Legacy. But at the end of each stage, players can spend skill points on new combos, increasing the power of their class skill (super attack), or bumping up their primary stats (Strength, Endurance, and Intellect).

Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows: Seven Sorrows also has a focused item collection system. Players can collect weapons, shields, armour, and amulets to increase the power of their characters. Each item has a small set of relevant statistics that the player has to consider before equipping, selling, or trading it. We’ve worked hard to make sure the inventory system is easy to use and unobtrusive while still rewarding the player regularly.

Elf
True Name: Idain
Homeland: Egelwyr (under the Struktum city of Danurhod)
Hair/Eyes: Black/Blue
Height/Weight: 5’10”/170 lbs.
Age: 301
Weapons: Pierce, Great Pierce, Magic
Class Skill: Glow – The elf transforms himself into an expanding sphere of magical energy, burning nearby enemies. If taken to the limit, the elf will explode in a shower of light, hurling his foes away.
Signature Move: Needle – The elf repeatedly drives his weapon forward in a series of blinding-fast thrusts.
Well, you don't see exploding elves every day, that's for sure. That's some serious genre innovation right there.

We cover games that are fusions of something cool because that's like a cutting edge or something and we want to be hip. Or something.

This might end up a cool and fun game; but it's not a RPG. It's espicially not a'hardcore' one. Is it even on PC? I thought it was PS2 and X-BOX? Even if it is PC, this isn't news fit for the Codex. Meh.

Again, why is a CONSOLE NON RPG being given newsposts on the Codex? It's akin to spam. How 'bout some Codex standards being reinvorced.

P.S. I await the "HUMOUROUS" replies of 'OMG! Codex has no standards hence why youa re able to post here!"

    R00fles! LOLOLOLOLLIPOP!

    Game over.

Same as before, to entertain folks who are patiently waiting to be entertained. Don't take it personally, Volly, but a person who is unable to appreciate an elf who rapidly thrusts his weapon forward and then explodes is dead inside. Dead!!!

Well, we know Volly is not alive to begin with. How can a rogue AI program be "alive"?

We're covering this so we can eventually post a news item about JE Sawyer hanging himself out of shame for failing in his career.

    1. The game is coming for PC.

    2. Sawyer said that it really isn't much of an RPG.

    EDIT:

Big whoop. Diablo wasn't much of an 'RPG' either. You kickass, gain levels, and chew bubblegum. RPG enough for me.

Diablo and Fate are Action RPGs. Gauntlet is a motherfucking arcade game. I cant believe you cant tell the difference.
