Remember Me: Platforming is extremely streamlined, basically full auto with no chance of failure. Combat gets fun after the 40% mark as you get some cool combos to build up and shit.

But, the world is the reason you should play. The architecture, economics & culture are very interesting. Even the way the game thought about the future robots is very interesting.
Though the games topic is memory & the concept of erasing & rewriting them, a subject that should write itself..The game does not tackle anything too interesting and thus the game basically is just a tourist destination.
For sci-fi fans I absolutely recommend just for the premise & world, just be prepared for an interactive movie with occasional decent gameplay i.e combat thrown in.
looks nice

A horse of course

Dedicated_Dark make sure you grab the soundtrack. Unfortunately it's missing a lot of the best variations (like the endgame server core) and I had to track down a fan-made rip/remix.

Unmodded SMAC - Believers

Zion is nothing but a husk of arid land. But moving westwards, the Believers established Golem, a city that stands atop a hill to guard Zion against invaders. As the explorers move northwards, they discovered the Promised Land - the Monsoon Jungle biome!

The celebration was shortlived as two other factions vie for control of the fertile lands.

The ecological-attuned Gaians claims the northern jungle. While the militaristic Spartans aggressively expand from the east. Sensing her weakening position, Lady Deidre calls out to Miriam Godwinson to establish a Pact for survival. The Believers accepted and so began the great war. Hundreds of men were thrown into the fray, many Believers armed with basic weapons carried from Earth gunned down by Spartans Particle rifles and eventually Gatlings mowed them en masse. It was a dark time.

However, Sister Miriam Godwinson knew perseverance is key. Sending out two sea foils towards the sea, Operation Noah's Ark succeeded in establishing contact with the rest of the scattered factions.

Weeks after setting off, the Ark successfully made contact with the Peacekeepers first.
Lal drove a hard bargain and handed over Laser technology. It bought the Believers precious victories in the field. They've lost none of their colonies, but the Gaians are nearly overrun. Only zeal, numbers, and tenacity kept the Believers at parity with the Spartans' superior arms.

Years of sailing later, contact with the Hive was made. The energy-starved faction agreed to trade Particle weapons in exchange for a large sum of energy credits.
The Believers' prayers were answered. Recalling their idling fleet of formers, the Believers scrap them for parts and quickly assembled the prototype to drive the infidels back.

The Crusades have begun.

The surviving laser rovers were quickly upgraded as well.
It is no longer an uphill battle.

Spartans losses begin to mount. And eventually, contact with all factions were established. Lal and Zakharov signed a Pact to alienate Yang. Morgan is always ready to do business.

Lal quickly rose as the Planetary Governor. The Believers pushed on with their Crusaders.

A string of victories later, and the fallen Gaian colony 'Memory of Earth' is conquered.
The defenders of Zion rejoiced. And why shouldn't they?

Hundreds of men and women have given their lives charging at the accursed invaders, chipping away at their fleeing Rovers, buying time as the Ark sought out technologies and aid.

Beware, Spartans, for the time for reckoning is at hand.

Finally made it through that awful base game. DLC's are really good! Too bad mechanics itself suffers from horrible decisions that were done in the engine; like slicing through an enemy as if it was air with HP, level 100 just few hours into the game, also the need to carry Repair Powder all the time, because your weapon can brake down after 20 killed enemies, and god only knows how much mobs are in every DLC location, probably hundreds.

This time same character in NG+

Hahaha more SMACkdowns...
'Bunker 118 has fallen. I repeat. 118 has fallen. We are under attack. Ironholm is under-'

Colonel Santiago can hardly believe her ears. Three colonies lost to the Believers in quick succession.

It will be hard to retake them or even replace the losses to mount a defense. Furthermore, they've made no headway into Zion, the Believers' headquarters.
The Spartans need time.

They're bluffing. Miriam quickly ends the transmission with a smug expression on her face. O Lord, forgive my temporary arrogance. But I must see this war to its very end.
And a truce will not do. The Believers despite territorial gains have fallen behind almost every faction in terms of technological advancement, they cannot rest easy. Danger lurks in every step. A UN Sea colony was established recently. It's too close for comfort.

Miriam's paranoia was proven when the Lal, alarmed with the prolonged conflict and application of Police State declared the Pact null and void.

'Contact CEO Morgan, it's time we make a deal.'

Months later, a sudden burst of data transmissions occurred between Morgan Industries and the Believers.

The recently liberated Gaian colonies were not returned to its rightful owner, against the expectations of many. The Sister has a different plan for the colony.

Deidre seethes at this sudden arrival.
