Anyway, I've introduced myself like a playah hater, but I just wanna talk about FO, okay? For example, what would y'all say which weapon is better? The Boozar, Gauss Rifle or the Vindicator minugun? I luse them all, but mostly the Boozar when I can't find no F-ing ammo for the other two. But my personal favourite Horrigan kill was with the Mega Power Fist...

I think Llama was just using hyperbole to make a point about FO1's superiority to FO2.

I always like the Sniper Rifle my self. There is just something about hitting a rat in the eyes from a 100 yards away that just felt so right.

 

Power armor was fusion powered. The FO2 car was fusion powered. ALL energy weapons are fusion powered. Vault 13's backup power system was nuclear, which may have been nuclear fusion rather than fission. There was a fair amount of fusion powered junk in Fallout.

Turbo Plasma Rifle (or Gun? I always forget) pwnz them all. Energy weapons + critical hits in the eye are better then normal bullet bursts in terms of damage.
Style is another thing.

Anyway, if you want murdering elegance, then the Gauss Riffle is the tool for you. It's range like a muthafucka, damage like one to and with Actionboy plus (aaaah, that thing for one less Action point for ranged weapons??????lol) you're untouchable! Ammo is the only bitch... But the super plasma gun aint bad either. As far as killing rats with a sniper.. hehehehe I know what ya talkin about. The little shits deserve it for even thinking they can touch The Untouchable! Because it would be stupid to go to war over the last bit of oil if you had fusion power!

 

Oil is useful for a lot more than just electrical power. Plus there's the whole issue of some things still requiring fuel oil to operate. Even though you had fusion powered cars like the Highwayman, there were still cars like the Corvega that ran on gasoline. The oil tanker in Fallout 2 ran on oil as well. Even the Enclave developed Vertibirds ran on oil, so it's not like that technology was just cast aside when fusion was developed.

 

Combat just wasn't done too well in either of the two fallout games. And it has nothing to do with TB/RT, either.

Weapons like the gauss rifle totally screwed up the balance in the game. The damage mods the gauss rifle ammo were ridiculously overpowered. In fact, I'm pretty sure it had the highest possible damage per shot against armored targets (once the ammo mods are factored in).

 

Pfft, brute force. No style.

 

It's definitely the meanest gun in the game, but that doesn't mean it is too easy to kill with... Actually, wait a minute... yeah, it does mean exactly that! LOL! If it's a bunch of Deathclaws or a Enclave patrol it rips their flesh of their bodies! Luckily they didn't make a Gauss Minigun. Like taking candy from a kid... But then again, the ammo is very scarce and hard to get, so... Anyway, I think the best weapon is the .223 Pistol. Now that's a hand cannon!

 

DopplerEffect is one reason why FO2 sucks now.

The gauss minigun was not til fallout tactics.


The weapon balance is fine, whoever says it's not is just not thinking properly...you are not going to get that weapon until you genuinely need it if you are playing in a nonmunchkin manner, and battles are still gonna be tough if you finish around 20th level (which you will if you just play the game naturally and not kill everything possible in the wastelands).

The bozar is better anyhow, for the main character, because you can get massive critical hits all the time and take fast shot without killing your damage.

I do like aimed shots more, though...just more fun.

When J.E. Sawyer was talking about how all the weapons in the Fallout games, especially the pistols, were useless compared to energy weapons, I threw the stats of the guass pistol in his face. If you have a decently high AG, the guass pistol round for round beats anything in the game.
