Seriously, it looks, feels, is written and plays like a fucking Iphone game man.
This is the beggining of the incline that we so desired?

I love when someone says "IT'S LIKE AN IPHONE GAME"

    It's a lovely retard indicator.

Why should we be disappointed about something we saw coming months ago?

HEY, I noticed there's no 100 page thread raging about how Call of Duty isn't a isometric turn-based RPG with choices and consequences! HOLY SHIT THAT MEANS THE CODEX LOVES CALL OF DUTY!!! :flamesaw:

Yeah, dudes. It's so pathetic that I'm having fun playing this fun game which cost me a whopping ten bucks. And yeah, what a waste of SO MUCH money to have a fun time...regardless of scope. What's pathetic are the neckbeards acting like a ten dollar dent in their lives is a fucking travesty. What's pathetic is expecting much more than we got from a small budget, short development cycle.

Could it be better? Of course. Is it still worth the money? Christ, you pathetically impoverished retards, YES.

You're going to what? Do something somebody cares about?

It's a relatively small budget and short development cycle insofar as what many people in this thread seem to have expected from the game. Tell me it's not. Go ahead, be that idiot.

IMO the only people who might have a right to be pissed off are those who spent large sums of money in the Kickstarter campaign, in the expectation of getting a "full scale" RPG. To those people I would suggest selling their physical editions when they arrive - I'm sure they'll be worth quite a bit on eBay.

To those people, I'd suggest researching the point of pledging to a Kickstarter campaign.

I think, if anything, what we might learn from all of this KS business is that a game which meets peoples' expectations of scale cannot be done under a certain dollar and year/month amount. I'm not convinced the KS model cannot work though. I'll happily buy $10 games like Shadowrun Returns as long as they're being made. Worth more than any similarly-priced DLC I've ever seen.

I'm going to... keep mocking people who say it. Misallocated budget, perhaps. Also, calm down. To Infi's point I, personally, am not pissed. Merely calling a spade a spade.

They never said they were attempting to revive classic computer role playing gameplay unlike inXile, Obsidian, Brenda Romero, etc. The pitch appealed to nostalgia of the setting, and the SNES and Genesis games (particularly the SNES version).

Yeah and with +hit buffs in-the-face part is't even that relevant. SMG is fine too

I'm playing female decker called Nordom now :? I invested 6 in Decking and got +1 AP for my drone (so 6 Decking, 6 drone control, 3 body and 3 ranged&pistols). Drones are pretty good, but I really need more slots. I guess I'll take a little close combat to unlock 4th weapon slot to carry pistol, deck and 2 drones. I also changed difficulty from normal to very hard, but can't find any difference so far (now storming ugly elf's lab).

To my everlasting shame I have to admit I am having my ass kicked while decking. I took the game's advice and hired Dodger, who either sucks terribly or I don't get the Matrix rules. I usually manage to fight my way to the final node and die like a sucker or with a bit of luck kill all the enemies, run out of time and get raped by black ice.

The rest of the team in the real world meanwhile turns the incoming kill teams into dog chow, so this is doubly irritating.

Any tips on how to suck less at l33t h4xx0ring?

Or without, even. Hell, the two notable abilities actively encourage keeping some space between you and the targets (and one of them helps you do it.)

There are probably better weapons for taking precise shots from across the screen, with better abilities to use for those kind of shots... but I'm happy that in specializing those, they didn't treat shotguns like melee weapons. You can still do some decent single-target damage at a distance, even though it's not what that's "for" in video-game land, when you have to (but you'll probably want the target area clear of friendlies.)

The "shotguns in RPGs" crown still belongs to New Vegas, just for letting you swap slugs and shot.

End game character (12h). Yes, I wasted quite a few karma points. In the beginning I could not decide between melee, range and spellcasting.

Bad stuff: Some levels are quite deserted: few quests, few things to do. The auto-save system, too easy on normal and somewhat confusing in the beginning. Quest compass.

So-and-so: Melee seems to be under-developed compared to ranged combat. The UI could have been improved, but is ok with a little attention. Lack of ammo. Cannot into vertical dimension.

Good stuff: Story, characters, dialogues, atmosphere, multiple paths for some quests and a lot of options to develop your character. And above all: it's fun. Assault shotgun with burst is sweeeeett ...

Bottom line is that I want more. The game has potential to deliver some outstanding campaigns. Hats off to Harebrained Schemes. They did it. First inclined KS game for me.

Lots of oldfags joining this thread; that's good to see. I pirated the fuck out of this game, and it's worth every dollar. The writing is great. Right from the get go you're interested in the story. Writing like this really makes me lament voice acting. You'd never achieve the same ends as you do with plain text.

The game is linear, no doubt. Not the end of the world. And I agree with Poetic's sentiment that it feels like a mobile game. That's a good call.

The editor is a slog. As if that's going to stop some aspie motherfuckers from making a decent module out of it. Good will come from it, I'm sure.

All I keep thinking is, motherfuck me, if they can do this on $1.2 mil what could they do with $20 mil? Something real decent I assume. No doubt. Developers have to up the ante on Kickstarter. That's what's next.

Equip your Decker with assassin or shield ESPs. And use their abilities.

Yeah, use special programs, they work like summoning spells.
