    Stalker and Bioshock.

    Apples and Oranges?

What are we even arguing here about then?

Bioshock's gunplay was atrocious. One "would you kindly" plot twist does not a good game make.

That's where I stopped playing, too. Just couldn't go on.

That's why I prefered Bioshock 2 over 1: Much improved gunplay.

It had a very good level again later on, where you had to do assignments for a mad theater maker. The big daddy escort ending was beyond retarded though.

As far as I remember, you couldn't even DIE in Bioshock (1 and 2) - I mean WHAT THE FUCK?

Suprisingly, it wasn't so bad, because I really tried not to get killed (plus there was spawning mobs and I had to preserve ammo), but anyway... I could just die and spawn endlessly at Vita Chambers and kill everything with malee weapon - I just didn't, because it would be beyond retardation. Guess I LARPed too much (foreboding atmosphere had something to do with it).

Oh, and the "good" ending of Bioshock 1 must be the worst ending I have ever seen in any game. Ever.

Same as in SS2, and that was an awesome game. Then again when SS2 came out (1999 lol) it was still pretty novel, unlike now.

You could die in S22, either before finding the QBR machine on each level, or if you ran out of nanites.

Really? And yes, it was an awesome game - I just didn't notice that respawn thing.

Yeah forgot about the nanites... maybe they'll have those in the super-hardcore 1998 mode of Infinite.

edit: Like potatojohn said, the respawning used up some nanites each time and you would die when you ran out.

SS2 actually had difficult enemies and the Wrench wasn't almighty unless you were supremely good. If you ran out of ammo or your gun broke you were in for serious pain until you found more, so trying to live off of respawns would have you dying or using up half your healing supplies every 3 or 4 enemies. In Bioshock you could clear half the level with the wrench easily then respawn and clear the other half easily.

SS2 is fairly challenging up until you get the assault rifle. Then you become a fucking terminator.

The best tactic is upgrading the Frozen Wrench and Wrench Attack speed and just beating everything to death while it's frozen. It's the win tactic for just about everything.

Yes, i feel the same. Seems like the time of BG2, Fallout and Arcanum was just a few years ago, and then i realise that it was 14 years ago. Fuck, average gamer kid today was not even born at that time...

Doesn't work on the higher difficulties. Big Daddies and some normal enemies have too much health to break down before thawing, and your wrench does no permanent damage when you're smashing a frozen enemy.

Also, in BioShock, the damage you do during one "life" persists, so the same enemies will be dead and will still be worn down. I'm not 100% certain but I remember System Shock 2 respawning and healing enemies upon each death, so you couldn't just exploit the system to wrench away everything.

It's hard if you are a 2011 newfag.

ZOMG I can die in a game. HARDCORE.

Newsflash dear 2011 morons. It's complicated games with complex gameplay that are missing, not dying-every-5-secs shit. You can die in CoD too all the time. It makes it totally oldschool and hard.

An easy 2007 game is oldschool and hardcore now.
