There is a gigantic reason to let Shen keep his global teleport. For starters, it's not even friggin global to begin with. You can't just pop up in the middle of the enemy base and start backdooring because you are limited by your teammates' positions. Second, it's much more reflex-based than gate/mandrop - those two you usually use to gank, get back to lane, backdoor, whatever the fuck. Stand United needs you to keep watching the map 24/7 or have everyone on voice comm and wait for them to yell 'SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN'. Do you know what limiting shen's ult range would do? It would make it nearly useless. Shen usually goes up top -> you can't use it offensively to towerdive unlike gate/mandrop, you can't use it to gank much because you can't teleport behind enemies, and surprise-rape is also out of the question since 'HOHOHO, SUDDENLY AN ENEMY GETS A SHIELD' is totally not suspicious and you are dum if you don't gtfo in the 3 seconds it takes to channel. Furthermore, giving it the same range as mandrop means you can't effectively save anyone in lane -> bot is obviously out of the question, and so is mid in like 75% of cases. If both you and your mid are standing in typical places for your lanes, you'll miss like 5 steps worth of range to save the mid's bum, and given the clutch-save nature of the ult, there's no way in hell you could save anyone with it if you needed to take those 5 steps.

Many moons ago, everyone banned evelynn because Sorakabot found a way to make her viable. Riot deemed she should be nerfed into oblivion because she was "anti-fun" as they like to call it. Their reasoning was that she forced the other team to play extremely passively in lane because if they were offensive, an additional enemy might suddenly pop out of nowhere (stealth).

That sounds a lot like Shens ult to me. Except you can't ward against stand united.

He's banned or firstpicked nearly every game. Nerfs will come. The sooner you accept this, the less butthurt will flow when they inevitably hit.

 

If you've got anyone competent laning against Shen, he should never be able to teleport away.

But I guess Shen is so OP he suddenly makes people on the enemy team dumb as bricks.

ITT: Potato butthurt about fundamentally broken champ that's banned/firstpicked in pretty much every game possibly getting nerfs to bring him in line with other global ults.

 

"Nerf" him back to the way he was before the buff that made him "op" and leave the ult alone.

 

He was sleeper OP before the buff. People picking him up again just reminded everyone how wtfbroken he was. A slap on the wrist at this point won't change that. You have to cut away the cancerous tumor of global presence in a game where noone else has it.

 

Just remove all ninjas from the game already.

 

In an ideal world, Shen would never be allowed to teleport. Or wait... That wouldn't be ideal for Shen, who could just back off and teleport... But... That wouldn't be... MIND BLOWN.
