Well Apple presentations are always very slick and the show overall is always very straight and to the point. The same can't be said for Microsoft with the XboxOne reveal.

 

Also gotta say that as someone who's worked in technical support and had to help people with their mobile phones, Nokia's phones were a fucking nightmare, every model had different kind of menus and they didn't have anykind of standard when it came to them. For example choosing operator was hardly never in the same place, sometimes it was in Settings -> Phone -> Choose Operator, sometimes it was in Settings -> Network -> Choose Operator and sometimes it was in Settings -> Phone -> Network -> Choose Operator, and that's not all, sometimes it was "Choose Network" etc.

When it comes to the software development, especially operating systems and user interfaces, one of the main rules should be to keep them consistent as much as possible, every windows-version I've used always has control panel in the same place and the basic settings behind the same icons but I haven't used Win 8 so I dunno about that.

As I said, if you convert 499 EUR to USD, the value is around ~600 USD, not EUR, give or take fx fluctuations.

Exactly. Probably from someone that sucks at math and basic reasoning, though, since the figure most likely arised from how 499 EUR is valued at 650 USD at the moment. Apparently converting from EUR to USD and keeping the monetary unit makes sense to some people.

 

Actually, this might be to microsofts advantage if the big publishing houses hate second hand sales as much as they seem to. After all you can make xbone/steam exclusives and stop second hand sales completely, thus increasing profits. Do you really think your average person is going to care more about being able to sell his game than OMG I MUST PLAY NEW CALL OF DUTY ?

 

Whatever the publishers want ; there is no single advantage buying an Xbox over a PS4 for the upcoming generation. The public will rush to PS4. Thsoe two consoles are too close apart and MS's PR will never have time enough to recover. Can't say I'm exactly cheering for Sony, but it is at least nice to see the bigger of the two evils die in horrible suffering.

With Gamestop and other big retailers convincing to soccer moms and dudebros that buying PS 4 games is a better idea? If the publishers are so mad and was their idea for the Xbone DRM, why there is almost no Xbone exclusives? My guess is that the Xbone got this online DRM thing because Microsoft thought that by pleasing the publishers this way and because they were sure that the PS 4 would have DRM too, they would got alot of exclusives but in the end the publishers got afraid of ignoring Sony, which took advantage of the PR disaster of Microsoft and decided to not include DRM as it was previously intended. Sony saw that the publishers got too afraid of ignoring PS 4 and while killing the second hand market would be nice, thrusting a knife in Microsoft back would be even better.

In other words, they simply turned from customer oriented to...publisher oriented. Who the hell pay the console makers and the publishers in the end? I find it extremely amusing that M$ and EA would partner up, it is like that they think without XBOX and EA games, gamers are screwed. Forcing indies to publish games via big publishers also means that they think indie can't live without Xbox either. M$ and EA are Living in their own little dreams to the fullest.

Sure, Sony is pretty clever at this. They weighted out correctly the loses and gains - if they join M$ in the customer raping scheme, sure they can earn some money in the short run, but in the long run, killing Xbox ASAP using M$'s own stupidity will be way more profitable. IF the market consist of only Sony and nothing else (including PC gaming), then there's no guarantee that Sony would be so nice though.

Dragon Age 3, Mass Effect 4, FIFA, Madden, all next gen of popamole Star Wars games? The only big exclusive is the Call of Duty with robots and it is kinda not as it will be available on Pc as well. I don't know man, but Microsoft has to convince Ubisoft and EA to show some more enthusiasm in the defence of Xbone "features" after bribing investing 1 billion dollars you should expect more commitment. To be fair, the Call of Duty with robots has potential to make Activision scared of losing the dudebro audience, right now i can imagine them getting Treyarch to add mechs in the next Call of Duty ASAP. Who is gonna win, the Dog or the Transformers?

Well, that's obviously true. What I'm getting at is that Sony might've intentionally misinformed the industry and MS in particular to trip them up in such a spectacular fashion, when it's a little too late to back-pedal.
