    I love the internet.

Here's a thread on NeoGAF of day one buyers: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=582836 It seems very evenly split with most people getting both consoles.

Here's a thread where they talk about the new Eyetoy http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=584596 and some people are peeved that it doesn't ship with the PS4 (relegating it to a novelty item), this after the uproar of Kinect bundling.

Shit this stuff is delicious.

I'm tech illiterate, what does that translate to in Nvidia terms?

    2020. Civilization has progressed little.
Has the value people place on privacy been successfuly eroded over the last number of decades, or would something like the latest Xbox been acceptable to, say, adult consumers in the 1980s?

I'm a glass half full kind of guy and I'm assuming there is a try before you buy feature. Because if our low RAM brains can't handle a full and diverse roster, they would accommodate us like a special education teacher instead of shilling every quarter and dime from our piggy banks because of our hunches.

That's interesting. But how will I know which characters I'll want to master? I'll have to buy them all before deci-

I miss the days when, you know, you bought a game, and you know, you had the game.

Killer Instinct will only cost $100+ for all of the characters. Just imagine how much it would have cost at retail!

Let the DD raping of consoletards commence. They will eat that shit up and ask for seconds. The Kinect will record every glorious moment of it all so archeologists who discover the ruins of America can watch the apocalypse as it occured in stunning 1080p.

People don't care about DRM whatsoever when they really want the game. This has been proven an endless number of times from Half-Life 2 to Diablo 3.

They do care about the press saying constantly "buy the other one" though, which is what Microsoft needs to stop being arrogant and take notice of. Also $100 matters to everyone.

    Geforge 580/660 level or thereabouts.

Not even close. You could build a PC with better components than the PS4 in the $500-$600 range. I can't imagine them selling at much more than a loss of $50 or so.

Not quite that much, I'd wager. The APU chips should be pretty cheap, say around 250-300 including the ram.
And if they calculate with high volumes the other components will not be that expensive either.
It's certainly sold at some loss, but not that much.

Also AMD laptop CPU meaning that you can forget about any kind of advanced physics or AI.
But then again since all that shit is scripted anyway in AAA games - it's simply not needed.

I read somewhere that the Microsoft stuff makes sense if you understand they think they're competing with Apple TV (which they think will otherwise become the dominant game platform following an iPhone-ish path) rather than Sony.

Complex physics and AI is the entire point of an HSA unit.

Microsoft is basically playing a three tier game with latency: Real time computations with eSRAM and HSA, low latency with the DDR3 ram, and latency insensitive with the cloud. That gives some wiggle room for developers to decide what goes where.

Bro it would've been great if CPU wasn't a laptop piece of shit running at 1.6 GHz

Good luck with physics and AI on that
Considering that even the top laptop AMD CPUs are twice as slow as ivy i5 you can say XBox and PS4 are running quadcore i5 clocked at 1.6/2 ghz respectively

The x86 CPU isn't what's going to do those calculation; that's the entire point.

No, reducing costs are the entire point of an integrated GPU.

But hey, give it a new acronym and suddenly idiots parrot your marketing blurbs across the web.

Except it will. There's no matured OpenCL physics engines yet and advanced AI can't be done with GPU.

Plus 7790 will be too busy rendering GRAPHIX as it is.

Why else do you think out of whole lineups for both consoles there's not a single game featuring advanced physics or any kind of, even dumbest, AI?

Nobody has ever used the GPU for compute and nobody has any interest in doing it with real time switching between x86 instruction set and GPU compute instruction sets.
