    Oh they were. :smug:

Yes, but you can play many different types of tanks (A guy I play with on occasion has over 100 tanks and nearly 1000 crew), and there are no quests...it's basically counter-strike with tanks 15vs15 in pubs, or you can have Tank Companies called by a commander, there are clans, and wars between clans for territory etc, it's all PvP.

My newest darling. The armor is shit unless you can get into a hull down position with a slight incline to maximize the slope. In fact, you ALWAYS want to be sitting in a depression, because shots to your lower front armor will make your rear-mounted engine catch fire. (Russian devs think German transmissions are made out of hydrogen and kerosine). The camo value is nonexistent (anything can spot you at 400+ metres). I'm considering dumping the camo net altogether and slapping in a gun laying drive, even though the aiming time is pretty good already. It's really nimble for a tank destroyer though - comparable to a stug but with slower turning speed and gun traverse/depression. I have a horrible winrate on it right now. Because the first 107 games were with the stock gun. Which meant I got matched vs tier 9's and 10's I couldn't penetrate 9 times in 10. But I finally unlocked the 12.8cm PaK 44/L55 and became death on tracks to anything tier 9 and below. And even the tier 10's can't laugh my shots off anymore!

Wow, leaving your StuG for that ugly piece of shit? Well I suppose that it fits your style, all German efficiency over anything with soul and character - you may as well have gone Russian.
    :rpgcodex:

After getting the strange urge to pick up a mech game for a while, I comprised on settling for tanks. Sure, it wasn't exactly what I was looking at - but the customization is decent and the damage model feels good, and those rare matches where you stomp your way through the battlefield, shells deflecting off your armour as you press forwards, ending the battle with multiple damaged systems and a sliver of hull integrity remaining are glorious and much fun.

I just wish that more matches were closer to your weight class. Now, I love my Matilda - the old girl is such a pleasure to command and has a canny figure - she's reliable as hell and will never let you down, but being put up against heavy tanks two tiers above you makes for a underwhelming game when you can only plink away, restricted by your poor mobility and low damage gun.

American vehicles are the best, they've been experiencing gradual power creep since the t110e5 was introduced and they'd make up 90% of clan wars matches. Then they expanded their TD line which has remarkably little guff, and The auto loader vehicles solidified them as by far the most versatile nation. Soviet whine is about a year out of date, and even then it was about the outrageous KV, and IS-4 when it had magic shell eating sides.

Don't get me wrong. I still love StuG III. It has a permanent place in my garage. But the 12.8cm cannon on the JgPanther II is a thing of beauty. Once I've had a game too many of StuG vs IS - with their magic armor deflecting shots fired at point blank into their rear - I load up Erika and blast those commie bastards to smithereens.

Decided to mostly play brit lines, training up to a Matilda, and up the British light tanks. The 40mm autocannons seem pretty damn effective so far, but the paper armor leaves something to be desired. Also training a US TD, with the T18 being my most successful tank, although the fully upgraded British noob tank comes pretty close, it's machinegun easily shreds other T1/2 tanks. Also, the Covenanter is really great, it's stock gun is ridiculous for sniping.

Like a boss (tank is completely stock):

The Match Maker has gone to complete and utter shite of late. I think the Russians need to lay off the vodka and stop coding while they're in an alcohol induced coma. These are my last two matches:

    shot_243.jpg

    Team One
    5 10s = 50
    2 9s = 19
    6 8s = 48
    1 7 = 7
    1 6 = 6

    - vs -

    Team Two
    8 10s
    1 9
    6 8s

    shot_244.jpg

    Team One
    7 10s
    2 9s
    7 8s

    - vs -

    Team Two
    5 10s
    2 9s
    6 8s
    1 7
    1 6

In both instances, the team with the clearly superior number of 10s absolutely RAPED the other team, who's pathetically weak guns stood no chance. Who dafuq puts tier 6s and 7s in a tier ten match up against nothing smaller than 8s and 9s?

MM seems to be deliberately setting teams up to fail. It can't be that hard to swap a few of the higher tier tanks over to the other side to balance the teams out.

Mathmod is pretty nice, if confusing the first couple of games.

Accurate damage direction indicators. Rangefinder that shows if your camo value is good enough to remain hidden, effective armor penetration at the given distance, reloading time as a number instead of a bar, shell travel time on artillery overlay... Lots of good stuff.

I really like the penetration/armor indicator as an alternative to clown skins. Especially since I haven't memorized the weak spots of tier 8+ US tanks yet. (Beyond the obvious "Don't shoot the turret").

Man... the T-46 is making me miss my old T-44.

I really don't like how WoT has so many hidden stats for tanks and modules.

Yeah, that's a great mod but I find the HUD too big and colors too faint for tanking on the move.

If there was a minimalist Jimbo's style reticle with Melty's info it would be perfect.

It's a lot better than it was at release (last I played). More maps, more game modes, graphics are better, physics!!! (you used to just hit invisible walls in the stupidest places). You can buy the p2w shells without spending money, although they are prohibitively expensive, so I guess that makes it no longer p2w, technically.

For tier 7+ maybe. If you have some Tier 5 moneymakers you can put goldbeans in your tier 1-3's for sealclubbing :smug:
