Fuck me i did it. Woohoo ! Thanks to recent mining craze i am wealthy enough to buy VR hardware and have 2 gpus to run dem games at full power. According to DHL site it should come today. I found it at affordable price compared to those VIVE/Oculus scams that cost like they are made out of gold.

PSVR-headset.jpg

Things I will be trying today sometimes for the first time:

- 120hz display. I never played anything more than 60hz. Being poor potato hurts
- Feel the proper sense of scale due to FOV and 3D effect.
- Hopefully feel that "presence" people are talking about though it might not work due to lack of positional tracking (though this might change as PSVR software for PC is still developing)
- VR in general. Can't wait to try Assetto Corsa or generally racing games as VR gives you headtracking, 3D and what is most important 100+ degree FOV which gives you sense of speed like nothing else. I have G25 wheel + gas and shifter so i will try the full course which is something i am most excited about since i love racing sims.
- VR porn. FOR SCIENCE !
- Probably will replay Fallout New Vegas with it.
- Shooters with decoupled viev from gun pointing. I already played few games like that (few HL2 mods) and i loved it but it always had problem with using camera with it since i had to point a gun to side of screen. With headtracking that problem doesn't exist.
- Cinema mode. Apparently breakout box for PSVR can fake properly sitting in real huuuge (imax size) cinema due to lenses, warp and headtracking. So you can play even 2D games on huuuge screen.
- Dark Souls 1/2/3 in first person. Yes :

- Sightseeing Witcher 3 world.

Also i just realized that i can take my PC everywhere now since Screen is so small (and yet so big). So i can take PC, G25 and PSVR to my friend and play racing sim games together without issue.

This is the worst possible combination. Either get a PSVR + PS4 or get a Vive/Rift for PC. PSVR doesn't have Standard support for the PC and having to fiddle around with Third party software and drivers to get it working isn't exactly the most "fun" part of VR. To add to that, PSVR has the worst tracking, since it uses EyeToy cameras that aren't exactly up to the task, so you'll have jitter when moving your head around and the worst and least compatible Controllers for PC.

You have wrong expectations for VR as it is right now, not only will your PSVR not work "out of the box" for PC and PC games, but most of what you want to play in VR e.g. Fallout: New Vegas, Dark Souls, Witcher 3, Shooters with gun pointing isn't exactly what VR does well right now. Neither of those titles natively supports VR (Although Fallout 4 VR and DOOM VR will come out soon from Bethesda). It's also not the best for classic fast-paced shooters and Witcher 3 has problems running at high FPS on normal PCs in the first place. On top of that you having bought a VR solution that's not native for the PC, with which you'll have to fiddle around with third party drivers and shit to even get it working, your choice of games haven't been developed with VR in mind and could possibly only be played as such with Third party hacks like VorpX or Mods people made, which are also in turn mainly developed for the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift in mind and will likely not even function with the PSVR: http://www.vorpx.com/

My expectation is that you'll be sorely disappointed. Either buy a PS4 Pro to use it with, or send it back and get VR hardware meant for PC, whether you just want to use it sitting down (Oculus Rift) or walk around in a room (HTC Vive).

You bought a PSVR for use with a PC? :nocountryforshitposters:

Yes because it is much cheaper and it works. Oculus is like 1000$ here and Vive even more than that.

BTW people just got it. Trying to make it work currently with drivers etc.

Here is my review:

:shitandpiss::shitandpiss::shitandpiss:
:shitandpiss::shitandpiss::shitandpiss:
:shitandpiss::shitandpiss::shitandpiss:

Simply put resolution is absolute garbage in 3D mode. 1000x1080 per eye is simply not enough. Remember playing games in 240x160 ? Yes ? Because that is how it feels. I think with 4k per eye we will have proper VR headsets. Until then you shouldn't touch it even with 10 foot pole. Be it Oculus or Vive i don't think they can fix those issues.

Even when you don't use 3D mode and you have 1080p screen for both eyes it is still not enough as you can hardly read any text.

FOV is nice but unfortunately not worthy enough to play games in 240p.

Probably will sell that piece of crap.

:deadtroll:

As for barfs.... No wonder people want to barf so much. It is mostly due to very shitty res.

TBH though you really should compare it with a Vive. Everyone was expecting the Pureisuteshon Veeaaru to be shit because even normal PS4 games look like 320x240.

Vive resolution is dtill garbage. 4k per eye is a must

I predict this will be millennials' next excuse for buying dat GTX 1180 Ultra founders dominion edition at $7000 next year. Plus the 7 jiggawatt liquid cooled PSU that you simply can't live without. :takemyjewgold:

DAY 2.

OK people i figured it out.
What changed completely my opinion
is VorpX software i bought for almost 40$.
So here is the deal.

In standard VR mode games are using, let us say Asetto Corsa developers try to bend image to your FOV. Which means:
- non 1:1 pixel ratio
- resolution is "spread out"
Which means it looks like you play in 640x480 or worse and frankly even 2k per eye won't be much.

What VorpX does on other hand it doesn't warp image to your FOV. It means that FOV is worse (something like 70) but image is REALLY good meaning no pixelation and what is more important 3D effect in this mode completely and utterly blows away those shitty warped images.
When i switched on Fallout New Vegas and it started to actually work with this software i had jaw on floor. High FOV, good screen quality and amazing 3D. Seriously it feels like completely new game to me. And i get 120hz at that. No vission problems nor sickness not anything. Simply perfect.

Sure it doesn't feel "immersive as full FOV view" but seriously i take superior quality and image shaped as box that that pixelated mess.
3D effect in Fallout New Vegas is simply superior to point where i stared on fucking dogs, doors, etc for a while because everything felt like it was real and next to me. Things have size now and it feels big/small.
Also with my head movement i point my gun which is awesome and waaaaaaay better than using mouse.

Right now it feels like amazing investement imo.
Seriously i don't have a fucking clue why those developers behind Oculus/PSVR/VIVE don't simply do what VorpX does.

I guess those people are basically immersion fags focused more on their immersion that fucking user experience.

The point of VR is to have immersive 110°+ all-around view, I'm not sure what you are doing exactly with whatever drivers the PSVR uses on PC, but the Hardware-based resolution doesn't change just because you're playing with a lower FoV. If you want the appearance of better Pixel resolution and have the appropriate hardware required, make sure to set Supersampling to at least 1.5 in games and for the best results to like 2.0, it'll be like night & day especially with things like text and small details: https://www.roadtovr.com/how-to-imp...ality-with-supersampling-pixel-density-tweak/

i see. When i run Asetto Corsa i have only 1920x1080 option. Do you mean change it in my GPU drivers ? Does Steam VR have separate resolution switch ?
Second issue is 3D. Asetto Corsa 3D is complete garbage compared to 3D in FNV i have with VorpX. Though it might be issue of game instead of Steam VR.

I will fiddle with it more. Sadly i think i need to use Win10. Win7 have issues with SteamVR in extended mode and i got it working only few times somehow.
Issue is that when i switch on Steam VR it goes into Fullscreen mode on my TV instead of headset. So many tutorials say that i should just win+shift+arrowright/left it to headset. Problem is that in Fullscreen mode that combination doesn't work and when i alt+tab it it changes from white grid room to red nothing. When i then win+shift+arrow it to headset it is still red and when i click on it, it goes into fullscreen mode but not on my headset but my tv instead.

How do you control stuff in New Vegas in PSVR? Is the pip-boy inventory a pain in the ass?

Native Stereoscopy built in by the developers should be a lot better than that which is achieved by Third party drivers/hacks like VorpX, you're probably doing something wrong.

SteamVR should have some sort of Setting for Supersampling, either a Slider somewhere, or you can change the RenderTarget for specific games manually somewhere in "Steam\Config\steamvr.vrsettings", but be careful cause setting it too high is Performance intensive:

Installed Win10... :negative:

Hopefully it will resolve some issues i have.

Normally. Pad or M/k. Difference is that vertical view is completely controled by head movement while horizontal is both via pad/mk and head. Pib boy does look a bit weird but after a while it doesn't cause problems.

Ok with win10 all my issues are gone. Playing VR now is just as easy as plug and play.

I played like 5-6 hours yesterday of Fallout New Vegas. Proper 3D and head tracking completely changes the game.

Biggest change i saw was size. When you play with normal monitor you don't feel at all sizes. I was surprised with criters. Geckos are fucking huuuge. I mean on monitor they look kind of big but in VR it is where you can see that they are bigger than humans and much more thick.

Every single pothole in road has now depth. Every single hill does look actually and feel like hill.

So far it is amazing.

Figured out Asetto Corsa. I had turn on Virtual Super Resolution in AMD drivers to 4k then option will be available in AC. Once i changed it all my issues with resolution went away. My last issue is FOV. Default one is way to close. something like 60 where i need something like 70-80.

Agree, it's probably the biggest difference and most noticeable first impression anyone gets from VR, but I would rather call it "scale" than size. Playing a game on a monitor is like looking at a picture of something, you can't really comprehend the scale of things, you see that a building or a giant enemy or whatever is supposed to be "bigger", but in VR you can actually convey that sense of scale in relation to the player as if he's looking out into the scene, a picture of the Eiffel Tower for instance can kind of show the size of it, but a scene in VR can comprehensively render the scale of it, and it's even better since whatever is being rendered in a game doesn't have to be real in the first place and is only up to the imagination - something that would be seen as natural on a monitor can awe in VR.

As I said back in 2013:
In Half Life 2 I especially loved the scale of everything, getting out of the train and looking up at that monitor with the oppressive head talking down at me the first time and the photo drone getting all up in my face and flashing me was kind of a magical experience and definitely lots different than what you see on a monitor. :P

You kinda get used to it after a few weeks/months though, and it loses a bit of that awe-inspiring feeling.

By the way, do you have positional tracking on your PSVR, e.g. are you using those EyeToy cameras so you can move your head closer and look at/around an object or are you only using it as 3DOF to move your head around? That's also one of the essential things that adds to the feeling of believability. Sitting in a car and looking around without being able to move is a bit different from being able to take a look out the window, take a look under your seat or being able to move your head around a steering wheel.
