Who cares if it is linear. This game was made for South Park fans. The RPG elements could have been an afterthought for all we know.

I like how even your cosmetic choices determine some of the jokes. Play as a non-white person and Cartman will give out a different comment on if you hover over the thief class.

I wonder why Matt and Trey choose obsidian if they don't intend to take advantage of their strengths. Clearly there are game devs with more name and brand recognition and blind drones than Obsidian like BioWare. Then again maybe they don't care about sales all that much and are more interested in finally delivering a good south park game and realize that BioWare is incapable of producing quality anymore.

Working with BioWare means working with EA. With Obsidian, they could make a private agreement with a private company, then shop for the publisher willing to offer them the best deal.

I recall reading that Matt and Trey approached several studios and went with Obsidian because they were able to make a prototype that looked just like the show.

Narratives ARE one of Obsidian's strengths.

I can't speak for the reason Matt and Trey choose Obsidian, but I doubt Bioware or other worker drone companies would have been able to implement Matt and Trey's writing as well as Obsidian did.¨

People underestimating execution.

Codex 2013 Codex 2014 PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire MCA Serpent in the Staglands Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Project: Eternity Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire
Also, as to why they chose Obsidian, according to that producer guy at SA the most likely scenario was that, of all the pitches for a possible South Park game that Matt and Trey got when they said they wanted to make one, Obsidian's pitch was just the best and most impressive.

I wasn't there at that point but from what I understand it went - South Park comes up with basic idea to do an RPG game, concepts internally, then approaches multiple studios > Obsidian does the best job pitching/prototyping/I don't know exactly what > South Park and Obsidian work together

Why to choose Obsidian? Is there any other RPG developer with decent writers? Imagine Bioware doing South Park, Cartman and Kenny romance?

Also, I can't help but wonder if the humor and generally un-politically correct nature of the game kept them from a company like BioWare, who basically now only makes politically correct dating simulators.

Pathfinder: Wrath
Would've been great to be able to romance Cartman and show him the error of his bigotry, if BioWare had made it.

Kenny dressing up as a princess being played straight instead of as a joke, and he doesn't get killed because that would mean sending a bad message about trans people?

The only thing censored in the german pc verison of South Park are swastikas.

You didn't really expect they wouldn't be censored right?

Steam says "gewaltgeminderte version" (less violence) on the shop page, why is gaben lying to me?
