Reminds me of another game, almost as if it was the same planet, except full of cyberpunk grime and pollution:

I wonder what kind of inert gas would tint a breathable or almost breathable atmosphere green, combined with orbiting a different type of star, if any.

wasd you move like in FPS shooter
zc you rotate camera
mouse wheel scroll you increase decrease acceleration from few meters per seconds to mln of light years per second.

There are also 3 types of camera. Standard is what is above, ship mode is where camera doesn't stop (x to stop camera)

Good way to find quickly planets:
Click with mouse on some star then or left panel choose solar system with planets (second one) and you will get whole system with miniatures of planets.

click on planet and then on lower left panel choose "move to planet" it will almost instantly take you to that planet. Same with landing.
Well yes, all that but how do i go to a specific place? Just use wasd?

Im interested in touring our own solar system only, btw. Couldnt care less about some randomly generated alien planets.

What does it even mean "ship mode when camera doesnt stop"?

When i start it i find the camera stuck to the surface of some strange planet who knows where... and there is a line going somewhere, like a trajectory of some sort that partially goes through that planet... so when i try moving in any way i get camera or a "ship" hitting that planet surface and getting stuck.

I mean... could the guy make it more complicated and obtuse then he did...

tnx anyway, ill try to do something if i gather enough patience...

You can always use search button at left side of screen. Type name and go to that planet via "go to" button (bottom left)

The guy has actual strech goals for this. Currently he is at 30k $.

$80 000 - Single player space exploration game

Gameplay based on space flight simulation, space exploration, research and building
Realistic spaceflight physics with both hardcore fully manual controls and handy semi-automatic controls
Various spacecraft models
Build ships, space stations, and bases on planets
Collecting data about celestial objects using probes and satellites

Long-Term Goals

$120 000 - Online space exploration game

Module-based ships with a 3D constructor
Players can name planets that they have discovered
Server database for worlds discovered by players
A database search function for finding a planet by certain parameters

$150 000 - SpaceEngine SDK

SpaceEngine as a graphics library for third party companies
WYSIWYG editor for all types of objects

$250 000 - MMORPG Sandbox Game

Space combat system with realistic physics
Unlimited capabilities for players: research, building, trading, fighting
Colonizing and terraforming planets, building cities
Destruction of enemy ships, cities, and even entire planets

For a mere 80k $ we can have what elite, star citizen and no man's sky will never be.

Look at all the money at star citizen and look at this. This is why we can't have nice things.

The main difference is the Space Engine guy seems reluctant to use crowdfunding like Kickstarter. He's only getting donations on his website right now. If he Kickstarted this I bet he'd get at least 80k with no problem.

What if, the black hole is not an actual hole but is a black planet with some kind of negative gravity field that acts as a bubble? :philosoraptor:

And the tunnel generated goes behind the planet and you can exit it on the other way on other black planet:philosoraptor:

0.9.7.4 is in beta and it is amazing, can't believe this is running in real time

I don't know who the maker is and why he is doing this alone and for free, but this is the greatest software ever written on PC.

That is a fucking nice shot.
To bad 0.9.7.4 crashes like mother fucker.

Also Space Engineer seems to be guy like Toady (just from Russia).
His developement plans are basically like Toady plans (shit lot of everything to be finished in 2077)

Maybe not as "realistic" (I don't think this game is either), but I think screenshots of ED look better (I haven't actually played the game). Artistic license and all that.

You are looking at wrong planets.

titans are basically flat balls of ice
Gas giants don't have surface

That leaves you with selena (aka planet without atmosphere usually moon like)
And normal planets.

Then there is formation of those differences. For example one side of planet may be flat desert but that other side of planet can actually have mountains ranges. Either way you best bet are selenas.
