    That's right, you can now grab <a href="http://www.rpgcodex.com/content.php?id=126" target="_blank" title="SR2 review">Space Rangers 2</a>, a strategy/adventure/RPG hybrid, from Stardock's <a href="http://totalgaming.stardock.com/" target="_blank" title="TG">TotalGaming.net</a> without any nasty Starforce aftertaste. Or any sort of DRM for that matter. Head <a href="http://totalgaming.stardock.com/games/?id=sr2" target="_blank" title="SR2 on TG">here</a> to download it for $20 or 2 tokens or 3 E tickets.

Stardock's agreement appears to be with Cinemaware, not Elemental Games, for whatever reason. Either way, it's nothing to do with Excalibur, who published the English language EU release (as far as I know, the only one that used Starforce). The chances of it being patched out of that version are slim to none, but it's been cracked, so just go that way if you find it less objectionable than Starforce.

Holy shit, almost bought this online last night.

Glad I didn't. Went to my local "Gamesman" shop and found the boxed edition for $5 NZ. Compare that to the (already cheap) price online of approx $26 NZ.

So, if you're reading this and live in NZ...

I'd take a physical boxed version over a digital download any day.

(I'm not defending Starforce. I don't want games installing third party software BUT.. I have 4 machines, AMD and Intel, different cd-rom drives, and have had no problem with multiple Starforce games - Space Rangers 2, Grand Prix Legends, Colin Mcrap, Splinter Cell.. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.)
