The Space Siege demo has been released. And it's not worth playing going by the comments in our forum. I'll just quote inwoker:

Ok. I played it.
Camera, camera, camera!
Camera is really clumsy. If you ever thought there was a bad uncomfortable camera in nwn2, you are surely mistaken. I never played Dungeon Siege so can't compare.
I always thought 3d-camera in the action-rogue-rpg is bad idea. The worse idea is poorly done 3d-camera. It constantly jumps, swithches angles etc.

The demo allows you to play a role of Seth Walker. The choises between light and dark side are shown clearly in the demo. If you choose light don't use any cyber-implants, that way you save your humanity. Humanity, oh well. And also would not decrease challenge to zero. Two implants were present in demo: cyberlegs and some other - don't remmember; each decreses your humanity by 15% and boosts some stats. Also it allows you to use more powerful weaponry like chaingun.

Skills are divided into engeneering and combat. I wasn't offered to increase anything

The only loot in the game is parts which can be spent on weapon upgrades and increasing some resists or something. To collect it press z button - which means vacuum collector or something. Ah actually there were 2 healthpacks, 2 implants and 2 weapons. But they didn't come from monsters. Also in the rooms with workbenches you may craft some shit from looted parts.

The enemies are some mechanized aliens. Big ones and small ones. Big ones are toughter. That's all. They drop mentioned loot.

The graphics in the game is really ugly. It's badly done 3d. Style is just some generic space comix, nothing spectacular.

Conclusion - not worth playing. Don't even try. Save your time

The demo tops in at 957 MB.

Thanks Korgan!

There's no way i'm wasting time on this, but I do wonder if it could possibly be more dumbed down than Dungeon Siege 2?

Wasn't Dungeon Siege 1 more dumbed down than 2? Well at least you had to remember to click the mouse in 2.

The FPS-player's impression of the demo.

In DS1 you could set up certain behavioral patterns for your goons and thus could let the game play itself while occasionally pausing and adjusting behavoir and drinking potions.
In DS2 you had less patterns and more interaction due to special attacks.
So, I'd say that DS2 was less "dumbed down" than DS1. But I actually liked the game playing itself. In most recent/similar games you either repeatedly click on your enemy until he dies or you click once. Wait. And click on the next one after the previous one died. For me none of that is particularly engaging. I would have liked more options on the behavioral patterns and auto-spell-switching, etc. They could have made a feature out of it. "How long can you let your party fend for themselves before the masses of enemies overcome them?"
Certainly not really better than the other real-time shit devs force down rpg-gamer's throats but at least it improves diversity.

Play this instead. Top down view, one kind of loot to upgrade your weapons, tons of enemies to eradicate. A nice little arcade game with an absolute cheesy story. I had fun with it.

No, if you want a mindless shooter of this sort you should play Alien Shooter 2: Vengeance. More weapons, more enemies, more blood. It's even got stats and special trait-stats.

Crimsonland is a lot of fun if you want a mindless shooter. It has a few perks from Fallout, to boot.

Yeah, that's a great shooter with lite RPG elements. Lots of fun and only about $20.

You know what? I'm going to torrent and play the full game anyway. I SO FUCKING WANT TO BECOME A CYBORG! Also, it looks like it's so dumb it could be brilliant. I really have way too much free time these days.

Not surprising by a developer so lazy and creatively sterile, perfectly reflected by the fact they don't even bother finding a new title. "You know like dungeon siege. In space!"

Hopefully this and their next abomination called "Demigod" will fail and we'll never hear from the douche C. Taylor again.

I'm not surprised this game sucks. Chris Taylor is a huge champion of dumbing down. He thinks that all games should be like peggle -- that they should basically be a passive form of entertainment.

I played the demo and yes, it is an action game with some rpg lite elements thrown in. However, to me, the game didn't feel like it presented itself as something different than a fun rpg lite action game.

I probably won't get it, though, as the control of my character was really horrible and the shooting monsters were way to easy: I like to be challenged a bit - even when I a play a sci-fi casual game.

Please don't mistake easier access, meaning easier controls for dumbing down games...

I'm actualy mildly interested in Demigod due to some interesting screens I saw [liked those huge walking castles] but I know nothing about the gameplay save for it being some RTS mutation.

The demo is poor. It fails to show the more interesting aspects of the game, for example the robot companion, nor does it explain the significance of "humanity" and cybernetics.

That said, the game itself, from the small taste the demo did provide, wasn't really all that bad. I'm not sure why everyone's complaining about the camera. I didn't have any trouble. You control it with the WSDA keys and I found it a breeze to keep the action in view.

The gameplay itself wasn't bad. I'd say it's more of an action game with RPG elements than than the other way around. The snippet of story wasn't particularly great, but it wasn't excessively bad, either. Not that anyone's going to pick this game up for its story.

There really isn't a lot more to be said. The game could be decent or it could turn out to be repetitive garbage. All I can really say is, I enjoyed the demo and if the game receives positive vibes I'll consider buying it.
