Yeah and one of the Trese brothers, not-Cory, is the artist. So good luck if you expect improved aesthetics.

His inanimate objects are fine, but his people are prosper. Still, very good game. The art still isn’t as bad as Larian’s stuff for example, or Blizzard’s.

The style grew on me over time. Obviously he's still learning but keeps improving compared to older artwork. What I really like is the variety of the art. All the different clothes and different style of culture. He has good ideas for this. Looking at concept art for Cyberknights 2 it looks like he's primarily designing concept art now and the final art gets outsourced (pretty good looking).

So, are ships actually different from each other now?

How is modding, still have the notdune setting?

Is it better than Space Rangers yet?

Only thing is common is doing trading every now and then.

Some of the later art was pretty good. Mostly the story NPCs.

Glad to hear it has improved. I by no means think the art should keep people from playing, the game is good independent of it, but my (dated) experience with it was just that it didn’t elevate the experience. The NPCs that is, items are fine.

It’s funny that you say that; for any Atlanta-based dexers, your description reminds me of the Dekalb Farmer’s Market.

Cracking Open v2.6.x
With this update we've smashed open the new group of the development roadmap. The first item in v2.6.x has fallen with the release of these two dueling eras and the new combat job.

To see more detail about what is coming next, check out our development roadmap which details the next major features and content expansions as well as our on-going content expansion initiatives.

Two New Story Eras
This update releases a major wave of story content, major branch points for the galactic story, new characters to meet, new rewards to chase and new challenges to face. This includes 2 new Eras -- Dissension and Consolidation -- which are mutually exclusive in the storyline. Your choices might help drive the galaxy one way or the other. And with each comes a heap of new content and additions to explore -- all new rules for the simulation including 2 new unique Rumors, 4 Era-specific rules for what types of cargo enemy ships are carrying, 6 new Contact creation rules to set the tone of the Era as well as a specialized Conflict setup rules and more. You might see some ship you've never seen before due to these Eras and will definitely meet some all new characters.

Keep an eye out for the "Buried Demons" storyline introduced by Silvaine von Sha to get a start on it. These Eras will only get started if you've already reached the 3rd Century Era, but will appear in any game no matter how far along you are.

In the dept of "even more new stuff" these Eras can also release up to 3 new specialist ship components as story rewards as well as an entirely new tier of ship weaponry!

Bodyguard Joins the Ranks
The Bodyguard Job is now available as the 34th Job of the frontiers. This defensive-focused fighter dual wields pistols and blades while mixing high power defensive buffs with well-aimed disabling hits. Protecting a target is a mix of keeping the enemy off balance and blocking incoming hits. The Bodyguard boasts a truly new Talent type -- Honor Guard which grants an 75% Auto-Block chance to a friendly crew member who is behind the Bodyguard. Each hit that is blocked has a 50% chance of ending the buff, but its a great way for a front-line bodyguard to protect the back-line.

The Bodyguard is also unique in having 4 Skills which stretches his or her Skill set pretty wide -- Pistols, Blades, Evasion and Tactics. Without a doubt, the best Bodyguards will be Officers with complementary Jobs. The Job combinations are staggering and extremely fun to play with -- from the Assassin, Military Officer, Bodyguard to the Spy Bodyguard, Swordsman -- there are too many too count and we're excited to see what you captains cook up!

Bodyguards can also provide life saving Talents to protect other crew and officers and special mission bonus payments for passenger and prisoner missions.

Bodyguards can be recruited from High Princes, Judicial Counsels and Courtesan Contacts.

Would it be worth playing this if you don't want to read anything? Dev said you can just skip all dialogue and explore the universe, but is that even worth playing?

What's there to do in this game? Can i get a few examples please?

For instance, can i indulge in high-society ventures such as trading slaves, smuggling drugs and/or run a prostitution racket?

I don't think there's any slaving, but there's some smuggling and you can board other ships and (try to) blockade systems

I just got in this sale and I'd say the best thing about this game is that you never run out of things to do. My first officer is like "dude weed lmao" every time we make a hyperspace jump or land on a planet.

BTW does the game have any mod support?

It's considered when it's completed. But don't hold your hopes too much. Only 2 guys and they have to develop Cyberknigths 2. Graphic mods should be perfectly doable, though. There was some Star Wars proof of concept.

who want to focus on small ship, highly specialized builds

So I think I need some recommendations about choosing ships.

After a long time playing I am still not quite sure what the advantage of smaller ships seems to be exactly. The bigger ones seem to be better at everything. I still would like a smaller ship, mostly for da role playing feels. I want to be a Dragon Firefly, not a Battlestar.

I have been flying around with my Juror Class for a while now and made some cash to advance into the mid-tier ships, so I was thinking of getting maybe a Gunhawk Sabre or a Solar Predator. I chose both of those particular ships over others mostly because I think they look cool. So lets just stick to these to ships to make a comparison a little more simple.

Also, I have no particular way of playing but just playing missions looking for a jack-of-all-trades build doing a little of all.

The Gunhawk is much more expensive mostly probably because he has slightly more advanced components from the get go. However, wouldn't it be much better to pick the Predator? It is cheaper, can fit more modules and has a way stronger hull. It has slightly lower armor but that can be improved later. The Gunhawk has a way better engine which makes it faster and more agile. I do feel however, that because combat can not be avoided sometimes I felt more comfortable with a slightly larger ship (that is still fast enough to outrun most biggies). I also tried upgrading the shit out of a Juror Class and turning it into a boarding vessel but these things are so fragile that you will still be shot out of the sky if you are unlucky. So I feel kinda insecure with a Gunhawk (or a Zatar Fang).

So in short, you'd think the Gunhawk is more advanced being more expensive and exclusive to a particular fashion but other out-of-the-box fuctionality and more speed there seems to be little reason to pick it over a slightly larger mid-tier ship that costs about half, can take a punch and can be vastly upgraded in most other areas.

What am I missing?
