    <A href="http://www.excalibur-publishing.com/">Excalibur Publishing</a> has snapped up the rights to publish <A href="http://www.starwolves.ru/en/">Star Wolves</a>, a spacy type CRPG where you play up to six characters who fly around doing odd jobs. Here's a bit of the PR stuff:
    <br>
    <br>
    <blockquote> Excalibur Publishing Limited has secured the rights to publish Russian publisher 1C's new title, Star Wolves, for the UK and Scandinavia. Slated for late February 2005, Star Wolves is a 3-D Space RPG with deep strategy elements. Commenting on the deal, Excalibur Publishing's Managing Director, Robert Stallibrass offered, "I'm tremendously excited about working with 1C who have been responsible for bringing many high quality and extremely successful titles to the UK marketplace. Star Wolves has garnered considerable worldwide coverage since its debut at E3, culminating in recent strong reviews. We hope Star Wolves will be the start of a long and exciting collaboration!"</blockquote>

    Now if they can find a US publisher.

    Looks okay. Not something that's got me super interested though. I'd like it more if they had landfall in the game. That would rock.

    Well, I really miss space CRPGs. The 1980s and early 1990s had a few of them and a lot of them were damned good. I want more.

    Did you ever play Hard Nova? That was a kick ass bounty hunter space CRPG. I'd like to see more like that.

    Same here, it might be hard to have the artificial containment though (you couldn't explore several entire worlds). It would be cool if they based it in the colonies and space stations in some backwater system, and each planet could be a hub.

    Hard Nova was fantastic, I replayed that a while ago. It's well worth getting it emulated or something if you don't have an original set of disks and an old machine handy to play it on. Glad to see someone else actually played it! :D

    I just read a review of Pirates! at IGN and it made me think that if Pirates! can succeed with (what sounds like) exactly the same content in a new wrapper, then it might open the doors for others. Someone really needs to remake Starflight or Space 1889 - both games had a lot of good ideas.

    I actually still have the game, box and all. I remember getting it back in like '93 out of a bargain bin along with both Starflight games and an RPG called Escape From Hell. I have all those other games still as well. Even got the starmaps for the Starflight games. Oh, and the games are on 5.25 floppies even. :P

    I am working on piecing together a legacy system that can run the games. I just need a case and I'm good to go. I really want to play Hard Nova again and am considering emulating it for the moment. It truly is a classic that was EXTREMELY underrated. I also want to beat Escape From Hell.

    Marry me.

    I've still got my original copy of Hard Nova too. :) I found it for download and emulation so I've got that for when the floppies inevitably die. Great to see that people did play these old obscure games. It seems to work well in emulation. It still plays well for me too, plus I am wise to power levelling my characters in it this time round. ;)

    Hell, I think I'll probably have to have a go now. It's been a while. Come on Galejay, we are off to hunt down Roger Amaro and solve the Lanta dispute!

    We need a nostalgia thread for people to suggest old games to emulate or hunt down on ebay and put up feedback on their play through. Could be interesting to see how people's opinions differ when they played it when it originally came out and for people who will have their first play through in emulation.

    Escape from Hell was a bitch of a game the deeper you get, if I remember correctly. Pretty funny (for the times) though.

    Hahaha. Sorry, but I'll have to pass. Bachelor for life. Well, unless some hot chick named Venus who owns a nightclub happens to fall in love with me. I might consider marriage then. :P

    Yes. The game got annoyingly difficult the farther you went. I just had to give up after awhile. But the game did have some wicked humor for it's time. I'll play it again someday and beat it. Just you wait and see. ;)
