So I can play a cool game, because if I ever make a game it's gonna be a space sim.

ANYWAYS, lets all chitter and chatter about cool tycoon game ideas.

One I got recently was one where it's like a mix of The Sims and standard Tycoon games, where you manage yourself to work your way up the ladder, while managing the business as you get hiring.

So as you climb the ladder, it becomes more and more tycoon-y and less and less like Sims (because the ability to pull and manage wealth will be more important then what time you show up and how customers like you as you go on).

One idea would be hamburgers, like you start off as a janitor, work up to fryperson, burger maker, cashier, then supervisor, manager, manager of a chain, manager of district and then you enter the corporate levels and so on until you become head of the company and retire with a bunch of cash.

So in the lowly ranks you'll mostly be handling Sims style stuff, but when you enter the managerial roles it'd be something like Theme Hospital. Where you run the building and make sure things are working and people arnt fucking around (and if they are you get to fire them), then in the corporate tiers it'd be much like a standard tycoon game, where you manage business and not people.

Toss in random accedents and such and make things tricky and I think it would be fun.

Be able to get fired and stuff, when you get fired instead of day by day it goes to week by week and you have to live with whatever money you got (early on you'll need to worry about rent and grocieries and stuff, so you cant slack around as a fryguy forever) and you'll have to keep reapplying.

If you get rehired you start a tier below what you were, if you got fired as a janitor, you lose the game.

Maybe put different settings in with the same template placed over them, such as retail stores, other fast food, maybe government buildings (schools and hospitals) and stuff like that.

You could probably incorporate most Tycoon settings into the template (zoos, schools, fast food, retail, hospitals, theme parks).

Behind you.
Playboy - The Mansion has some of what you're talking about from what I've heard. It's kind of a combination of The Sims and I guess a Porno Mag Tycoon.

Personally, I'd love Maxis to make an expansion to The Sims 2 where you could buy and own parts or ALL of commercial property. Work it just like a house, you buy a commercial plot of land or you buy a building that already exists or perhaps rent out a room in a mall or something. Then you run that as opposed to having one of the normal careers.

Well, yes. But it was horribly mangled in it's execution of the idea. The "tycoon" part of it is just taking pics of pixelated bimbos (Which is fun the first time, but can get really old) and then rushing out the magazine. Most of the time is focused on the "Sim" part, which boils down to partying, sex, and sex while partying. Sounds fun? It isn't.
