is it deep enough to waste some time on it?
have seen that has detailed unit org down to squad lvl, which i like (too many games use abstraction mechanics).
but i also see its somewhat popular with the casual crowd which is never a good sign.

Picked it up on the gog sale this week. It's ok. It's like Combat Mission and Company of Heroes had a baby and that baby grew up to be a meth head. Can't change much options in skirmish except map, limited battle types, and unit configs. Can't change objective points or time limits. Can't edit unit start locations, and unit spawn limits keep battles to small firefights rather than huge destro wars. The addition of the strategic map game is interesting. The few operations listed allow for some General larping, and division/corps movement gives at least a bit of larger scope, which I hear was lacking from the first Steel Division game.

Overall it's all right. The limited skirmish maps, inability to change much in multi/skirmish and few operations in army general mode will keep it from being on your computer for long, though. And for being a 50+ gig game, that's not a good trade-off.

Get Graviteam Tactics, Combat Mission or Panzer Command instead if you want some decent WWII pew-pew action fun. File size is much smaller and the fun factor will keep you playing them longer.

im not interested in skirmish/multiplayer, i was intrigued by its strategic/operational/tactic layer campaign.
also the historical unit composition is also promising.

The entire focus of the game and all games made by the dev is on the multiplayer/skrimish side of things.
    The campaign is tacked on.
