Finally, everything makes sense now. Planescape: Torment was an experimental survey (as for the "attractive" part, we all know Nameless One was attractive inside).

Justin Starkiller from Star Wars: The Four Sun Leashed is pretty much this turned to eleven. Not that I care about those star destroyers and the pew pew laser swords, but I mean, Star Wars had that little blonde kid from Batman: The Animated Series, and nobody didn't pay money to go see it because he wasn't badass enough to pull a spaceship from the space and crash it into the planet.

Oh, and he held his two lightsabers backwards, which, I mean. I dunno. It's one of those "the first sign of mental retardation" things. Shit ain't tonfas. I know this because I watched a PBS :obviously: show on weapons, not because I'm a weeaboo.

yes, Draq, red green is definitely your colour.

"Help, help, I'm being repressed"

Caleb is the best guy for karaoke too. Definitely one of the best "dark" characters made with excellent touch. A mix of pop culture references and b-class horrors, songs, and many more. Stephen Weyte should make more voice acting as a main character.

One of my favourite 'dark' characters, AM.

But to be honest, I'd play a game with a closed cold fish protagonist, who's hatred is not shown as a pair of 'I HATE YOU' and 'I WILL KILL YOU' moments, and who has a reason to fucking hate everything. And probably mentally sick, but without showing it as 'WOOO RED SCREEN I AM A PSYCHOOO'. And as complex as fuck to understand and predict.
But most of those videogame writers are dumb fucks who watched too much circus.

Bad boys are above earnestness and emotional engagement (ironic, huh?). That way it doesn't hurt when a girl rejects the geek developer's proxythem.

On a side note: I don't know about the rest of the world, but the people of Kwanstain have severe emotional issues. It's like a nation of people with daddy and mommy issues. This explains many things about relationships and values over here. Don't be fooled that the worship of the bad-boy/Sex in the City woman that you see is based on any higher aspirations or contentment...

I'll take a truly dark character or anti-hero over a "bad-boy" any day. Conan is an anti-hero, justified because he's a (noble?) savage. It's not a posture or performance he adopts, it's his nature as a creature of the wilderness. He acts out of self interest because his culture and way of life/survival had no need or room for sophisticated introspection, nor was his clan's advancement enough to where they developed a similar code of ethics to civilized men; any selflessness was akin to that which exists amongst a wolf pack. Solomon Kane is what I would call a truly dark hero. The darkness stems from his hatred of and righteous and relentless crusade against all evil, and his puritan "fanaticism." Bad boyism has no such substantial justification or any significant goals unless we're talking real bad boys, which we call criminals. The kind of bad boy usually referred to is just another mainstream (meaning not subversive in any way that counts) persona, like jocks, valley girls, geeks or hipsters, but with more aggressive posturing. It's an affectation or result of poor rearing.

  16. If hell exists, we won't burn in there. We will spend eternity planning our attack on the boring shitty heaven.
    Isn't it fun?

    Actually, Valhalla seems more plausible.

I don't know why, but this reminds me of a girl back when I was in highschool who fucked pretty much anyone and everyone, especially guys who didn't give a shit about her. She would tell me that she wasn't interested in me because I was 'marriage material', but when drunk would scream hysterically about how much she loved me while sobbing. Crazy shit, but hot asian ass is hot asian ass. I don't understand women, but I think ones who hold a grudge against their fathers want to work out their daddy issues through emotionally unavailable assholes. The geeks/nerds/losers who never get laid probably jealously kidolize those assholes, and try to live vicariously through their 'bad boy' avatars in games.

    Whatever, everything is shit. :rpgcodex:

Double red flag right there. When you see an asian girl acting like that, you're dealing with a whole new level of damaged young woman.

But, but if you don't have a bad boy character, then you don't have a baseline personality that needs "fixing". And if you don't have a personality that needs fixing, then you can't have personal growth. And if you can't have personal growth, then it can never be a real story. Because only stories where the main character dynamically changes [in a positive manner] are real stories*.

    -Baby Boomer story requirement.

    * Don't ask me what the other stories are then. I'm just paraphrasing someone else.
