Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Pathfinder: Kingmaker
Best part about Lost Izalith was joining the spider lady convention and skipping the whole damn thing.
I did the Kangz first, then Seath then Nito. I think New Londo is the most rapetastic of the three and the Tomb simply a pain in the ass because Nito has some religious conviction against paying the electricity bill or something.

Also, you planning on doing the expansion too?

As you enter the area you turn right and there is a small patch of land that allows you to melee the shit out of the Centipede Demon.

That's where I fought him, as I said. You still can't melee him unless you got something that staggers him. Most melee weapons won't even reach his body, and if you hit his legs, he starts stomping all over you.

Anyways, made my way through most of Duke's Archives. Mostly a nice area with lots of content and hidden stuff, but fuck, that first room where you face Seathe is downright retarded. A long run to it, and then he is pretty much invulnerable. I tried it like 2-3 times, then went this is stupid, and looked it up online. Apparently you are not supposed to fight him there, but somewhere else. :rage:

Also, you can sever a body part from the Centipede Demon to get the Orange Charred Ring before the fight is over. If you die, you can then use the ring on the next go around, while being able to walk on lava for the rematch.

I love the kind of boss that you can make progress towards beating over multiple lives like that. Is it only Centipede and Bed of Chaos that this happens with? I think you can sever the gargoyle's tails too but that doesn't mean much.

Only other example I can think of is the Gaping Dragon- if you didn't kill the channeler before fighting it, you could go back and find him to make the fight easier.

In Dark Souls 1? I don't think so. Arguably, aside from projectile hijinks, co-op +2 is the easiest way to do Bed of Chaos from the start (two other players can take the sides while you wait in the middle), so it's somewhat harder if your progress is saved.

In the other games, you have things like Yhorm which is similar (you could grab the sword in the first run, use it in the second). Some bosses have a prep-angle to them, like draining the poison in Mytha, lighting the oil for Lost Sinner, or that sort of thing - not required, but they significantly ease the difficulty.

Maybe YOU can melee him, because you are using a cheesy tank build or something. I am playing Hardmode, Dexterity build centered around parrying and dodging, and using a sword.

So since I can't block his bullshit, and I can't hit his body from the ground using my sword, guess what, I can't melee him. The only body part of his I can hit are his legs, and he has a nasty tendency to go into stomp-mode after being hit in the legs, which is next to impossible to dodge, since it comes on super fast and goes on for a while. Not to mention dodging him is hard to begin with, since the camera angle makes it hard to see his body. And I know this because I actually tried all of these approaches.

Using a ranged weapon from under him is by far the best way to take him out. Takes notes, son.

Also, Porky has just taken out Seath the Scaless, pretty easy fight once you go ranged.

Then I raged my way through the first part of Tomb of the Giants. See, I discovered the coffin you can lie down in to be transported into the Tomb of Giants, except I couldn't find any way to continue there. So only through the use of google did I realize it's just a dead end part for the Covenant, and that the actual Tomb begins from where you defeat Pinwheel. I missed that little part because that freaking ladder is pretty much camouflaged in Pinwheel's room.

Anyways, going through 5-6 giant skeletons in pitch dark was fun, where the trade-off was generally between holding up the lantern and not being to be mobile or fight or fighting and rolling off the edge. Eventually made my way to the damn bonfire, and killed off Sister Thorolund's two bodyguards. Hope I can find that asshole Patches later on.

Bro, it's fun to read about your first time adventures and experiences with Dark Souls but you're just plain wrong here.

You're playing the game for the first time and you're obviously still a beginner just like any first-timer. And you're telling us, most of who have beaten these games many, many times, what's (im)possible and what's not like you're an authority on the game :gumpyhead:

You can melee Centipede Demon to death just fine without shields or cheesy tank builds or whatever, just like any other boss.

Oh relax, I am goofing around. Although, it would be interesting to see you defeat Centipede Demon in melee with a sword and without blocking. I mean, technically, anything is possible, some guy beat the whole game without dodging or parrying once, but it's difficult to imagine.

Meh, talk is cheap. Everything is easy, until you dive into the details. Then it turns out you guys summoned Solaire, grinded yourself into all sorts of meta-game crap, used some cheese approach, etc. I do it au naturel. ;)

No, really, meleeing Centipede is just not that hard. Once you get past the shock of the fuck-off flailing limbs it's pretty easy to avoid the foot stomps.

One reason most beginners find some enemies too hard to dodge is that they just mash R1 until they see that the boss starts an attack. And if the boss' attack is fast and your last attack hasn't finished yet, it's too late to dodge even if you mash the dodge button before the boss' attack connects.

Sometimes it's a good idea to just attack once or twice and back away preemptively if you are dealing with fast enemy attacks. And especially if you know that a boss is going to stomp you after you attack its legs.

A lot of time has passed. Becomes easy after a while to confuse the Centipede Demon with, oh I don't know, the Asylum Demon? :smug: I too meleed that one, my friends.

Made my way yesterday through the Tomb of Giants to Gaylord Nito's crib. God I hate that place already. The lack of light wouldn't be so bad if there weren't those dog skeletons every 2 steps, just sitting there like mimes. There is one particularly fun patch right after you kill Patches (well, I did anyway). There is one dog skeleton next to a ledge (just in case you decide to roll), followed by a skeleton archer, 2 more dog skeletons, and a black knight. Lots of fun was had the first time I ran into that. While the two skeleton poodles were putting me in the juicer of their limbs, and i had arrows sticking out of my front like a reversed porcupine, and then the black knight ran up, and I could almost swear I heard his AI laugh.

Anyways, I used a glowing pebble as a target marker to mark the first skeleton dog, and took him out with archery from a distant ledge. Then did the same to the archer. Parried the knight to death after pulling him out. Then, I was able to shadow-step the other dogs.

Those midget skeletons in front of Nito's room are amusing too. Do they infini-spawn when you step in the water? That's the impression that I got. Now I just figured out a way to run directly from the second bonfire to Nito without any fighting.

Died a couple of times to Nito. His buttblast is pretty annoying, though it does clear the room from his minions. Gonna be a tough one.

I know what you're referring to. You could've left it at the first sentence, and I would've known what you were referring to. :argh:
They do. Some people like to farm Humanity there, I've read, since you don't have to return to a bonfire as long as you don't run out of Estus.

That's good to know, I've been doing rat runs in the Depths to get Humanity, and it's not that great. Patches also dropped 4 Humanity when I punished him for being a naughty bastard.

Yeah, I figured that stretch with the dog skeletons gave everyone PTSD. Gets a lot easier once you realize you can walk past most of them.
