Maybe challenging for you, but compared to games i've played, they are easy and "streamlined" that you can finish them while half-afk.

 

It was shit but GW2 stole ideas from it? Main being Public quests. Which was one of main feature for WAR.

 

and war came up with those entirely on its own. it's not like they are just and automation of the old recurring gm led events from daoc which in turn was a continuation of other games including muds before that. god forbit games actually evolve and build upon the ideas that are good.
i mean, you could just as well say that secret world stole the setting from unknown armies, mixed it with a bit of lovecraft and its deck building is based on guild wars 1/chronicles of spellborn.

It's pretty neat how the success/failure (well, mostly success since the zones are flooded with ppl atm) of the events determine which ones get active next. I'm missing one skill challenge to clear the Meatoberfest. But th eonly way I can get to the area it's in is if the flame legion stronghold attack is successful. And the only way the flame legion stronghold attack triggers is if the NPC who launches it has his entire crew with him. Which in turn means they need to have whatever events are associated with them succeed.

Eh, I just skip posts with his name in them. It's not like he's actually trying to critizise the game. Just trolling for the sake of hating on something new. Same with menchenstein flipping all out over lion chest keys without even bothering to find out there's a ton of non-paying way to get the keys and the contents of the chests are largely irrelevant. I've opened 10 chests so far with keys I've gotten from in-game events, achievements quests and the like. And so far the only thing I've gotten were some 5-10% temporary stat/xp boosts, a shitton of turn-you-into-an-animal tonics that I destroyed because they were taking up bank space, a few common dyes and some transmutation stones which I guess are pretty neat. Used them to make my crafted lv25 shoulders look like the custom shoulders my guardian started with.

 

Has it been mentioned that you can buy "gems" with in game gold? I'm not sure what the conversion rate is but basically you shouldnt have to pay for anything n the cash shop with real world potatoe.

This isnt to say that cash shops are the devil either way but as far as i can tell its pretty lenient

 

The conversion rate is whatever the market will bear. Once they get the trading post working properly. Basically, you buy gems with gold, the gold price goes up. You sell gems for gold, the gold price goes down. A bit like how Eve Online handles PLEXes.

The only things in the store that it actually makes sense to buy are:
1) More character slots. 5 is a little low, but still more than GW1 gave you. If you don't have chronic altitis like me, you can probably make do with a main and 4 alts.
2) Bank space. Since it's shared between all your alts it runs out pretty quickly. Especially if you - like me - end up making partially finished tradeskill items (jute linings) because you forget to check you have all ingredients. Raw materials for tradeskills go in your infinite collection inventory. Crafted components don't. You can circumvent this as well by grinding. Make yourself a pseudoguild, once you get enough influence, build a guild vault for yourself. That's an additional stack of bank slots right there.

 

So D3 RMAH is bad, but buying keys for chests in gw2 is good?

thesoup did you miss out on the last 4-5 times where it was pointed out that the keys are easily obtainable without buying and the contents of the chests irrelevant?
D3 was built around making buying shit on the RMAH essential so Blizzard could take a cut. At release at least, there's nothing in the guild wars store that'll give you an edge in progressing through the game. Unlike the stories we heard about people trying to progress through inferno in Diablo without buing shit from other people on the RMAH.

I'm going to spell this out for you since apparently you people are very, very dense:
The major beef with D3 is that the RMAH is central to the gameplay. There are plenty of posts in the D3 threads about people who enjoyed it such as MHC debating whether to equip gear they found or sell it on the RMAH instead. And how most of the stuff they used to get through inferno was stuff that was obtained from the RMAH.

The lion chests that you guys are so up in arms over are completely ignorable and provide you with nothing that impacts the game in any meaningful way. And are easily opened without paying a single cent. You're all up in arms over the least signifigant part of the game that noone who's played it even bothers thinking about.

Seriously people. If you're whining about something that's already been debunked less than 2 pages ago, you just make it apparent to the world how retarded you are.

How is RMAH central? You don't need it. You can just grind forever instead. Completely obtainable without paying moneyz. Just like the keys. Some people might want to get those keys without doing quests and lucky for them - gw2 has a convenient store for them in place.
Both things are Jewish Korean money grabs, the only difference being that you're a fanboy of one of these games and no ad hominems and strawmem will change that.

 

Turns out the evil communists are the dredge. They even have an event where you have to hunt down one of their commissars. And the miners praised me for "collecting for the collective" when I was disguised in a mining suit in a mission.

 

Again... I dont even like this shit up until now and its fairly safe to say im not a fanboy and you still sound like wannabe edgy faggots. The lion chests dont mean jack fucking shit and i as a level 10 retard have already gained ways of openeing them without even trying. There are huge issues with this game but the ones you bring up are fucking retarded and unimportant

Edit: here ill give you something to complain about so you can stop sounding like uninformed shitheads. Group shit turns into HUGE clusterfucks of particle effects. Im not sure how much strategy there is (skill wise there is a lot.. I dont know how it pans out though) cooldowns are to low and there isnt even a such thing as a basic attack. Your cash shop shit is BS. Feel free to ignore this for a page then bring it up like you knew all along. At least whisper touched on it although it was a minor point

He's posting something that's an actual issue with the game instead of latching on to some peripheral shit that noone who's playing cares about and making himself look like an idiot. GW2 is not perfect and most of the people who are enjoying it right now never claimed it was anything but the same as guildwars 1 but slightly prettier with a few new doodads. And no more instancing all over the place.

At least in the Diablo 3 thread we could post things like people getting disconnected from their single player games, items being stolen by session spoof exploits, the fact that battle.net stores your passwords case-insentitice and truncated to the first 8 characters. (In the light of the recent reveal that someone ran off with the battle.net user emails and password hashes, that's sure turned out well for blizzard). Not to mention people talking about selling and buying items for hundreds of dollars after RMAH came out, complete with screenshots and blizzard taking a cut out of every trade. We didn't go "OMG there's an option to pay money to have your sword colored blue! JEWS!" like some sad fuckfaces in this thread.
