The Mass Effect 3/BioWare Thread

Alright. So that would mean that Bioware games had these qualities: Great world design, great plot and good character portrayal. I disgree. That's all. Bioware did not have to create a world for BG. It was already there (and for the lack of options in CRPGs, its shit). Plot? Well, as I said. It was a good adventure story. Hardly anything noteworthy. You are the chosen one thingy (which is a-okay in my book). Characters were sadly shite. Which character did you think made some specific impression on you? And for heaven's sake don't say Irenicus. I never understood this fascination with that character people have. At least tell me (Assuming that's your choice) why you liked him or any of the others...

 

Drew was still involved with the ME2 plot and wrote two tie-in novels based around it(one took place right before and the other right after). The deterioration of ME has a lot to do with a lack of planning, fan pandering(Garrus and Tali's shoehorned roles are the biggest example) and the games being rushed.

 

Makes sense.

From 3-4 year development cylcles to popping out sequels in 18 months intervalls cannot be good.

 

Yeah, both of the previous titles are examples of this. The first one with it's copy and pasted bland "uncharted" worlds and the second with it's tons of bugs and bad design decisions like something as important as taking down the Shadow Broker for working with the Collectors(LOTSB) being made DLC while the core game focuses on irrelevant daddy issues...err "loyalty missions".

the worlds weren't copy pasted AFAIR... there just was no gameplay difference between them besides that one with the lava and the ones where you kill that giant alien thing instead of gunning down monkeys pyjaks, thing is, though the rest of the game was indeed copy pasted

But in TV series and so on they actually have good emotional manipulation. But moreso it is done by character attachment.

This is a action game were people is ganked left and right, not even my sisters would feel an inkliing och emotional engagement for something like this. It is like action movie XiV were people die left and right, you don't care. Hell you even just see that kid in two frames and don't even directly see him die. Not even a crying mother there.

 

Was it not for the Asari I might have actually bought ME1.

Fortunately lesbian blue alien space girls with tentacles instead of hair were too derpy for me to bear.

Fucking christ the arrogance of it, the main story about the Reapers is pitch black along with the lesser ones about the collectors and the mercs who commit atrocities for the lulz. That series has no more depth or complexity than a Disney WW2 cartoon.

The biggest joke about the scene with the kid is that Shepard can happily nuke a star system in ME2 and sacrifice civilians to burn in an oil refinery. Yeah, such a Shepard would really give a shit by some random kid getting blown apart
