We're joined by two developers from The Outer Worlds, the new first-person RPG from new Xbox first-party studio Obsidian Entertainment: co-director Leonard Boyarsky and narrative designer Nittai Poddar. It launches on October 25 (including straight into Xbox Game Pass!). We discuss the origins of the project with respect to Boyarsky's Fallout background, crazy things that have happened during playtesting, the importance of The Outer Worlds' deep character creator, and more!

It's on Game Pass for PC. At least a while back there was a special offer of 1 $ / € per month for the first four months. El cheapo.

Ryan McCaffrey: "Leonard, In 2004 you said: To be perfectly honest, I was extremely disappointed that we did not get the chance to make the next Fallout game. This has nothing to do with Bethesda...it's just we had always felt that that Fallout was OURS! - ..sorry the emphasis on OURS was mine there"

Leonard Boyarsky: "LOLLLLL"

Great interview. Ryan actually puts in the time to read up before hand. Only real journalist employed at IGN.

Wow They recorded three hundred lines of dialogue just for the character creation reactions.

The lack of media traction as we are getting closer to the release date is astounding. Yesterday's video with "the first 20 minutes of the game" must be the first news I've read about it since forever. It's almost as if everyone has already forgotten about this game.

There's too many games now, and the most popular ones are online focused from massive publishers. I feel like pretty much everything else is pretty under the radar unless you're on an enthusiast site like this one. Unless it gets super popular after release, then all the media sites sprint to catch up.
