Well... they do have Devil May Cry 5. So there's one good game at least.

We should begin a movement to declassify VNs as videogames. It probably won't fix things, but it will make us feel better.

TBH I don't really need more improvement in the graphics department - I just need better games overall.

I thought it was hilarious how they talk about SSD as if they just discovered some new thing.

but then I read this part which is pretty intriguing:

    Also PS5 is backward compatible.

Backwards compatible is good, especially in the digital download age. Can just port your library right over. I mean I don't use consoles really, but good for fans.

As for the effect on PC, sounds like we're gonna need cards that do ray tracing well once these games start coming out. The performance right now, especially at resolutions one assumes these games will target, is pretty rough right now even on a $1,000 card.

Faster CPU and faster content loading should translate into better gameplay, if the developers make use of it.

They'll always use the technical advancements to make things prettier and run the games at 30fps with loads of issues. I don't see that ever changing. And they'll also complain about the added costs of making those pretty assets.

RT should make things cheaper if you have the balls to release only for RT.

Well, you might have a point. Although with that glorious ray-tracing engine, targeting even 30 fps seems fabulously optimistic.

So I'm reading somewhere else they might shoot for 8GB HBM2 and 16 GB DDR4 (ass cheap) memory. With AMD's HBCC controller, they can use 8GB HBM2 + 12GB DDR4 as a single unified memory pool, with the other 4GB DDR4 reserved for the OS.

That might makes sense since HBM2 prices are falling fast and ends up being cheaper (and uses less power) than using 16-24GB GDDR6.

$500 for End 2020 launch seems feasible.

Yeah it's interesting. I doubt they use a GPU anywhere near as good as the 2080ti, and that sucker already can't run games at 4k with ray tracing. Obviously the console pipeline means they'll have more optimization, but still. And touting 8k support too? Unless this thing is a $10,000 super computer then some of those specs ain't serious at all. If they still target 1080pish and 30fps and tout it as 8k because of upscaling it would be pretty lulzy, but I doubt it would hurt their bottom line so whatever.

    End 2020?

Yeah I guess $500 for horribly out of date hardware is par for the course.

They don't really have to use full-scene raytracing though, like in Battlefield 5. They can simply limit it to make sharper shadows or some other unnoticeable shit. But who knows.

What's so horribly outdated about those above specs? Be realistic, kiddo. That's a massive jump over the Xbox One base model.

The Xbone came out in 2013. How are you possibly comparing them?

The base model on which all modern AAA games are build on as the lowest common denominator?

Every time new consoles are coming there are chuckles from PC gamers about the "old tech," but every time it doesn't matter because people buy them for convenience. They don't need to match a 2020 gaming PC, they just need to look significantly improved, not cost a fortune and have some new exclusive games. That's literally all that matters.

Normally I would agree with you. But I've just come from a thread about how consoles are now LITERALLY GAMING PCs.

So forgive me if I'm not that impressed.

Also I bought a PS4 shortly after launch, and to this day there are few truly good games for it. And the ones there are, aren't even exclusive anymore. I expect this decline to continue to the next one.

Edit: Unless you happen to be some kind of weeaboo degenerate. Plenty of Japaneseru games for the PS4.
