GameSpot posted a brief info and 9 screens of The Roots which is, according to Cenega Publishing, a highly anticipated RPG (not that I've ever heard of any other kind). For some additional info you can check this old interview.

Players will assume the role of Yan, a 19-year-old man who was raised by the Magic Tree of Life's sentinel after he was found wrapped in a bundle of blankets at the foot of the tree in his home village of Corris. As players progress through the game, they'll travel through 24 different regions, encounter more than 120 nonplayer characters, and will be able to employ more than 400 items and 70 spells to fight off around 100 different types of monster in 70 different battle arenas. The Roots will also feature two minigames, the arcade-style ballooncraft race and a logic puzzle game named Trion.

Minigames, a race, and a puzzle! They've thought of everything! Now, that's what I call a high RPG standard.

That sounds a plot ripped right outta 16-bit console RPGs. At least it isn't as dumb as Seiken Densetsu's plot.
