Do the SpaceQuest games appear as multiple games (an entry for each game)? I'd play them again at some point but for now I just want to pad my numbers so I can overtake Ed.

I just want to beat Ed, then I can rest. So close, I've closed the gap from close to 200 to just about 40 games. I can taste victory.

Saints Row: The Third for a good price on Steam. Never played any of the series. Shit or not?

I bought the second one to play co-op with a friend. It's definitely MUCH better than GTA, but it had some annoying crap, like you had to grind a ton of shit before you could do story missions, when you didn't care about the grinding and just wanted the missions. So if they did away with the grinding in Saint's Row: The Third then I'd say that it's very much worth the cheap price. I'm thinking of picking it up myself too.

It's basically a GTA clone with a shitload of sandbox/fuck around DLC.

  14. Wait is there Steam library e-peen measuring going on here? NOW YOU'VE WOKEN THE DRAGON

And Saints Row 3 is good assuming you end up enjoying the ridiculous humor. The actual gameplay (On normal at least) is easy as shit, so if the over the top humor doesn't pull you in, then the only other major attraction is running around doing stupid shit. I really enjoyed it. Not as much for the slapping people with a giant purple dildo humor, but the writing and dialog in the campaign was often quite good. It's not much of a spoiler to say that in the first few minutes of the game you jump out of a crashing airplane, only to smash through the windscreen of the airplane as it hits you mid-air, grab a random goon, gun down more bad guys in the airplane, then sail out the back of the plane again and steal the goon's parachute and catch a companion and pull the 'chute and land safely. There's more similarly silly shit throughout the game which really made it a blast.

To put it another way, I spent something like $25 on the game and the "Season pass" DLC and felt like I definitely got my money's worth, even as short as the DLC is. Steam says I've got 35 hours racked up playing through the game and the mission DLC, and I intend to play through again at some point whenever I get a new video card for maximum bloom and eyecandy, and with a different PC voice for slightly different dialog.

I left the mighty cow out for a reason, I can't compete with you (yet). For now, I just want to take out Ed. After that my plan is to kidnap and put you in cryo sleep for a year will go into play. I'm claiming victory on my steam join date though.

  16. Yeah. I waited a while before I signed up for Steam. As much as a steamloving gabetard as I am now, when HL2 was released I didn't buy it due to Steam/DRM 'cause Steam was fucking terrible at the time. Eventually relented when I found the collector's edition of HL2 for $30 online and a friend showed me Garry's Mod when it was still a mod. Then I saw Steam had improved since launch after I used it a bit and wasn't too horrendous, and a while after that they started figuring out crazy Steam deals and then they had me right where they wanted me.

I'm pretty sure I got my steam whoring start from some ATI bundle they had with their graphic cards. It was a redeem code for a bunch of valve games like Half Life 1 & 2 plus some other crap, maybe CS?

Steam was fucking awful when it launched, and I didn't touch it for about 6 years. Then I realized how awesome it is and started giving Gaben all of my jewgolds.

Oh, and Saints Row 3 is fucking legit. Any thoughts on picking up the season pass dlc while its on sale?

  21. At $7 it's.... Well. The first DLC (Genkibowl) is mostly Genki skinned activities. I wasn't that wild about the Genki stuff in the base game, and this has next to nothing in the way of PC dialog. Gangstas in Space and Trouble with Cloning are like a few regular campaign missions each, complete with a few cutscenes including PC dialog and silly shit. Each DLC is only about 2, maaaaaaaaybe 3 hours long if you do everything and get all the achievements.

If that's worth $7 depends on how much you like Saints Row 3. You're not exactly missing out if you don't have them, but it's not too horrendous for $7 if you like the game. Kinda. Sorta.

And, did you even play all of those? I was just looking at my account, and it said I owned 129 games, which I found oddly high. On further inspection, Steam seems to count each tiny DLC separately. So I had at least 8 entries for Magicka, and I only bought this game as part of a bundle that was cheaper than the game that I actually wanted on its own. Which means I haven't even played the base Magicka game yet, let alone looked at any of the DLC. There's also some indie bundle stuff I never looked at.

So I counted the stuff in the "library" window, and that resulted in 67 games. There were still some expansion packs listed extra (like X3: Albion Prelude), or the single and multiplayer of Dark Messiah of M&M separately, some Mac version (I don't have a Mac), plus still those indie bundle games I never looked at, but it looks more reasonable.

Oh god I have only been using steam for 11 months and i am at 242 :(; sigh. To be fair a lot of that stuff is various bundles...

While it's true a lot of them are un-played but this is because 1) adventures for later consumption 2) games i pirated and played to death earlier (never paying more than 12 for a game again lest it is a worthy kickstarter or good rpg/turn based strat).

That number is skewed for some reason, library gives a real number.
