RPG Maker Ace on Midweek Madness. Someone buy it and make JRPG CODEX: The Warrior. It's not the game the Codex needs, but the one it deserves.

I only find those by looking at the general news feed.

  5. For a brief shameful moment I considered buying RPG Maker and fucking with it. Haven't done something along those lines in years, used to DM some pen and paper games and worked on some NWN modules and fucking with something like that again would be kinda fun. But I dunno if I wanna blow $35 on RPG Maker when I have no idea if you could have C&C and/or dialog trees at all, and I'd probably be stuck with anime graphics unless I wanted to scour the internet for images to pirate and chop up.

use the NWN/NWN2 toolset if you want a good easy-to-use convo editor. you get three-dee graphics too.

  7. Yeah, NWN's toolset was fantastic. NWN2's was overcomplicated and ass for casual mod building. Sure it had a lot more potential depth compared to NWN1, but NWN1 got a hell of a lot more (Both good and bad) made for it in large part I'd be willing to say because of the user friendliness of the toolset. You could pretty easily make a NWN module over a few weekends if you were so inclined. Nowhere near the case with NWN2, even just making a basic area was time consuming.

I've thought about trying to fuck with Skyrim's toolset but I'm not sure if there's any way to squeeze dialog/minor C&C out of that. And even if I could I don't give enough of a shit about TES lore to make it setting consistent and that would niggle at me. Since NWN modules are self contained things that didn't really bug me but since a Skyrim adventure just plops it in the game world it would.

If you're asking if there are quests with multiple solutions and dialogue choices, it's possible.

  9. Going to continue my fine tradition of bitching about the CAG Steam thread in the Codex Steam thread but Jesus H. Christ. I never would've thought I would be for forum moderation since I usually like my internet as unfiltered as possible, but holy shit. Why can't those stupid shits leave the deal thread and go post in one of the many subforums? I justify my Blogdex use of the Steam thread here because I'm still talking about video games 90% of the time (The remaining 10% being bitching about CAG), and usually it's just some quick shooting the shit video game update that wouldn't warrant a thread, and on top of THAT the Codex isn't a forum dedicated to video game deals on the first place.
I feel better now. Slightly. Until I look at the thread again.

And you've got a point Clockwork Knight. Skyrim did have some super minor C&C out of the box so it's theoretically possible. I would assume you could do dialog without voice work and just leave each line up until the PC clicks to advance it. Maybe I should stop being a baby and poke at it at some point, lore accuracy be damned. Probably have a better time making Skyrim adventures than a dungeon crawler using RPG Maker anyway.

This, I have so many idiots blocked that I can't see a half a page typically. Also, I've found turning off sigs has reduced my rage from a factor of 11 to 7.

Don't worry Miasmata runs like shit at times too, you might have bought two games you can't run. Leave it to smaller studios to produce unoptimized shit, here's looking at you magicka.
